  • GY401 Help

    Just wanted to check that the Gyro is working properly on my T-Rex 450. I have a GY401 with a 9650 tail servo and I have set everything up as described in the 'Finless' videos.

    Hovever, when the heli is on the bench and I put full rudder input on the stick, the tail pitch slider moves to full throw on the shaft as expected, but it does not return to centre position when the stick is released. Is this normal or do I have a problem with the gyro?

    To check the servo, I disconnected the gyro and plugged the servo direct into the rudder channel and everthing works OK.

    Can someone please confirm that the gypo/servo setup is working properly, and if not I would be grateful of any suggestions.

    Yes, it's working correctly.

    When it's in heading hold mode (the red light is on permanently) and the servo behaves as you have described.

    When it's in normal mode (the red light is off), the servo follows the stick input precisely, and centres itself when you let go.

      Just be sure to check that;

      (a) the servo is going the right way, and

      (b) that the gyro is sensing the right way.

        Slight addition (to avoid possible confusion) - when in HH mode, the red LED is on when the rudder stick is not being moved.

        Cheers,
