  • Recomendations for a club....

    Guys,

I'm really not a fan of clubs but most of you on here have slowly made me think that perhaps it might be fun to fly with others....so I was looking to take a plunge....

I'm looking for a non-stuffy non-beauraucratic club to join preferrably with some heli-addict members.

I live in Bishops Stortford next door to the M11 and Stansted Airport.
Anyone want to suggest a club ?

    Best Regards.
    Adrian.

Ade ran a clubs roundup thing not so long ago, which should be archived somewhere, with peoples' experiences of clubs, and whether they are 'heli friendly'.

    Could be worth looking for.

The Stansted club have two or three different sites I think. There's also a club that flies right next to the motorway at North Weald airfield. I've often seen planes flying there when driving by, but never a heli. Also, Stumps Cross (they've got a website scmfc maybe?) which is just off the A11 a few miles North from you. They fly both helis and planes, but their club secretary is errrrr,,,,,, well,,,,, what can I say without being rude? And, of course there's the clubs at Harlow (they've got two sites) and Chelmsford. The Chelsmsford site is on your side of town, so is easy to get to and is a great flying site. They've got a website as well.

            None of them.

The nearest one in that list to me is Stumps Cross, which is about 15 miles from me. I fly half way between Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds, which would be a long old trek for you.

Personally, I would recommend Chelmsford from where you are - experienced heli fliers, can fly whenever you want, great field etc.

PM site user Garry Bagridge for information.

I went there as a visitor one Sunday morning a while ago and met him, so I can vouch for their setup.

                          Bubblefish,

If this is of any use, there is a small indoor heli club that meet at Welwyn Civic Centre once a month. Its not really a club just a few indoor flyers that share the cost of the hall, info & chat etc.

I've been a few times, I think they call themselves welwyn whirlybirds and there will be a link on the micro-heli.uk site, Malcolm the site owner used to run it!

Hope this helps, if you need any more info just ask!

                          regs

                          Pip
                          regards

                          Pip

Hey, where d'you learn to fly? I saw you shoot your rocket
                          up.............. into the sky.

Hey, I heard you set the pace, I never thought I'd see you back................ in this old place!

I have to say the response from clubs has been poor
I've sent email to 3 clubs now over a week ago and in chelmsford's case email directly to various members and not one replied
I'm starting to wonder to be honest :/
