  • Flying a Bell Medivac with Futaba 9C

I want to fly my Bell Medivac using my Futaba 9C radio so I can practise with the radio I will be using on my larger Heli's

I have changed over the Chrystal so the radio and heli see one another and I have started a new model in the radio but I am struggling a bit with the Futaba settings for the two channel Bell.

Has anyone else done this, could to share the setting up details.

    Cheers Dunc

I'd be interested too. I would like to use my Futaba 7 CAP if I could.

    Anyone done this?

    Thanks

You need to set it up on a aeroplane memory and not a heli one,
Check your swash moves the right way and reverse if needed using the aileron and elevator channels

        Cheers.

Probably just a case of fiddling & trial & error.

It would be good to lose the std Tx.
        Thanks

          Thanks for the advice.

No luck so far though, even on a aeroplane setting, the radio just does not seem to communicate properly with the Bells speed controller. I get the error lights flashing on the Heli that suggest no radio within range.

I will keep trying and let you know

          Cheers Dunc

Are you getting the red light?

If so, just check that you have the throttle trim down fully as well as the throttle stick.

The Twister will not engage the throttle until this is done.

Had the same problem with my 7CHP but when I did this, all was well.

            Cheers

Mark - No I am getting the red and green flashing light you get if the Radio is switched off.

The light should flash green then so solid green but it doesn't. Tried setting the throttle to reverse and even had it fully the other way, but still no joy.

Must be something simple I am missing, unfortunately I do not know the radio well enough to verify the settings are correct.

              Cheers Duncan

Can you move the swash plate?

If the TX and RX are talking you should be able to do this even if the throttle is not working.

                Cheers

Mark - No the swash plate moves only when the radio is first switched on - like it is setting itself into position then nothing. no amount of adjusting gets it to move.

Only time anything really happened was when I still had it on the Heli setting - I turned the radio on and the heli took off straight up full throttle straight into my kitchen ceiling. But turning the radio off then on reset it and this never happened again.

                  Other than that nothing

                    Hmmmm.

That does not sound right to me.

Does it work if you use the original TX? If not, was something damaged when it hit the ceiling?

It also shouldn't have taken off like that as the throttle MUST be fully down (with trim) other wise it won't initialise.

Mark - When ever I change the crystal back to the original TX it works just fine.

Its only when I place the crystal in the Futaba 9C things go hay wire. Yeah the taking off by itself made me jump.

                      Doesn't do anything else though.

                      Cheers Dunc

                        Hi

In my Futaba 6 the settings are:

                        Chn 1 and 2 servo's normal
                        Chn 3 and 4 " revsd
                        Chn 5 and 6 " normal

Make sure atv in throttle is 100% or the Med. rx will not arm.

Also it's not Pcm only Ppm working for the Rx.

                        Cheers

Are you suggesting by this statement I should have the 9C set to a heli model. another guy said it should be an areoplane model for the Twister Bell Medivac.
