  • Twister 3D tail servo problems

Hi I have a twister 3D which am still learning to fly.

I have a problem where the push rod for the tail prop keeps coming off the servo that controls it. The ball fitting is too loose and I can not see a way to prevent the pushrod from coming off.

I am looking for suggestions of either a prevention or upgrade fix.

    Regards,

    Duncan

With the risk of stating the obvious change the ball..... for a standard one and then resize the hole in the link with a link sizer. I have the same problem with mine its just floppy (i think they come like that) and i was thinking of doing a similar thing. The only thing is it will add a few grams to the weight

Thanks for that; I had taken the ball off the thought that might be the way forward but did not think it was as easy as that.

I will get right on the the shop tomorrow cheers.

As a side thread, I have just brought all the head and swash plate upgrades and wow what a difference. Even as a novice I have noticed how much of a difference a few better parts make to it function.

I have done the same on a Bell Medivac as well and that is a great fly now.

            Cheers Dunc

added the upgrades to mine some time ago, and it does make a difference, although the quality of some of the parts left a little to be desired, i like my Twister, just a shame i reshapped some of it a little while back, but i must say the upgrades stood up well in the crash, and I only bent the feathering spindle.
Looking forward to getting it back in the air

Suppose i did leave meself open to the neverendin torrent of abuse there didnt i.

Talkin of upgrades the tail servo is an HS56BB on mine and i had to turn the gain down loads on the gyro to stop it waggin its arse. The metal swash is a great it makes it controlable (you dont want a floppy swash (i bet you can get pills for that as well)) and the canopy off a Belt CP. The only thing thats a bit of alet down is the 20mm space between the frames it limits the choice of batteries as most of the 2000s and 2200s are 21-23mm and they wont fit.

I must say it is a robust model with rwo exceptions. The orignal cheese main shaft made from ally and further weaknd by putting a hole up the middle. Bent that about 4 times the first day i had mine manufactured a new one from a piece of silver steel never been a problem since. And the bevel gear that connects the tail to the main gear i know they are cheep but they are definatly made of cheese one silight tap of the tail and that gear has a bonch of teeth missing..

The tail gear is the real pain, as you say, one slight touch and its stripped, at least one servo usually strips isn a crash, but i have been using HS55 servos, and for the very modest flying I do they are fine. The original JP batteries are pants, I have a couple of Max power 1800s, and they seem to be lasting well, although i do have to "squeeze them" into the frames, fortunately, the frames will give a little and they will fit in, I think they are around 23/24mm
Other than that, I like the model, although as I say not an experienced pilot, but did manage my first ever nose in hover with mine a little while ago

Hi I still have all the original servos and batteries and will up grade these as I get better and more use out this Helli.

I went back to the shop and spoke to a very helpful guy there who owns a Twister 3d himself. He suggested turning the plastic ball around and screwing it on like that. Essentially what happens is the ball mount acts like a washer on the outside edge preventing the arm from coming off at all.

Seems to work well, but as I am still crashing a lot at the moment I will see how much damage it causes to the servo or tail gears over time.

Thanks for all the comments they are very helpful.

                    Cheers Dunc.

If your still crashing, have you not thought about getting a simulator,
could save you money and time rebuilding it.

£80 is not a lot and it will help you loads

Yes I have thought of simulator.

I would like to get one I could drive with my Futaba radio (off the training port, its a 9C) if that is possible so I get as much practise with it as I can. I have also thought about programming the Futaba with the Bell as a second model so I am using only the one radio.

The only issue I have with the bell. is I am not quite good enough to fly it in the house and so end up hovering or just going back and froth can not turn yet, with the space I have to fly it in.

                        Cheers Dunc
