  • Have a laugh....why not :P

OK so tonight my CP Belt tried to kill me
It was intentional and deliberate..... 2 attempts...nearly successful too

    First one....
So i turned my TX on, hooked up my battery on my Belt CP and held the heli in one hand and with the other looped the carry neckstrap over my head so i could use two hands to carry it outside. As the TX bounced off my ample belly the fuggin' throttle lever was nudged to mid point.

A nano-second later I was holding a thrashing chopper trying to take my friggin headoff. Luckily I had a good grip...held it way out in front of me... (thank you for making the rotor's little ones and not huge 600mm one or this might have been a different story.)

Outcome...one gashed thumb and a scrached face and 200 beats per minute on my heart

Outside I settle it down and go for my first flight. First thing I notice is the heli is a bit more sluggish with the HUGE ttraining set I have on it now. (Bought for the T-Rex 600) Anyway's after flying the Phoenix I'm feeling v brave.... trim it on the ground using the 'bobbing about on the training gear' method then finally give it some and it takes off...and hey !! I'm doing it....then it drifts back towards me....hmmm....what happens now ? oh that's right...in the Phoenix sim it stops, resets and you get another go..... in Real Life you realise the bloody thing is about to cut your legs off and you RUN AWAY !!! as I depart the flight path heli lurches and smacks ground. chipped main blade and some white pastic coating covering the wood has come off.

I retire for the night with 2 questions.
    1) Can i still fly with a small chip and some plastic missing ?
    2) why is my CP Blade trying to kill me ? is it jealous of my booty call with my CX2 ?

Answers on a postcard to the usual address please.

    2 words, throttle hold
My laptop has several very large scratches down the screen and a couple of missing keys thanks to reading a guide for my esky king and nudging the throttle!
As for your blades - no you must bin them. But health and safety aside, I used to fly with some shockingly poor condition woodies on my King when I was starting out - mainly due to impatience and not wanting to wait for new blades to arrive, just used to trim back the plastic so it didnt flap or buzz and carry on! Not really a good idea but...

1, NO! as the blade may have other damage not visible under the rest of the covering and will probably also be out of balance. There only £6 ish so why risk one parting company with the rotor head and flying towards you a'la Rodger Rabbit........

You should also check the rest of the head/heli for additional damage. Eg the Feathering shaft and main shaft etcl.

2, Because your a nugget and did not keep the tranny away from you or wait until the heli was on the ground in your practice area before connecting the battery with the tranny on the ground beside you, visible, having checked the throttle was DOWN.

LOL, Steep learning curve these heli's

Yes I'm starting to realise that..... thank god I learned the throttle one while dealing with a small'ish heli..... I'm not going to think about 600mm CF blades *shudder*
Still it was a rather sharp lesson learned !

            erm hello

how big is your traning gear is it really big enough for a trex600
its a cp micro heli use micro training gear

get someone to check you heli setup it sounds way out of trim

            use throttle hold

why did you plug the battery in in the house and then carry it out side why not plug it in outside
Why is the ground to high

Get a neckstrap with a quick release buckle, saves all that looping it over your head or fiddling to hook it onto the tranny.

I always lay my tranny on the floor after making sure all the switches and sticks are in the right place before connecting the heli to the flight battery.

Sounds like a lucky escape mate, but one thing you should get in to and you could even fail ur A cert (if im right) is walk out with heli in one hand and TX in other away from your body and not connected to your neck strap YET!!
Once model is on ground and your away from model then connect it to ur neck strap,

I know there is always "you should of done this or you should of done that" but things happens and that's the way us humans learn trail and error LOL
