  • Upgrade or buy the Special edition ??

hi all, im a bit peed off, i spent £200 on a mini titan 325, seems fine, until i realised i could have bought an SE for the same price ! ( the radio i got was rubbish so i bought a DX8)
now, i have to make a choice to buy the SE or spend the same amount of money on upgrading the 325 with cnc head/ tail, carbon boom etc...
but if i upgrade i will only have 1 heli, if i buy the SE i will have 2 heli's.. is this a no brainer or is buying the likes of a sportmoto head and tail etc better than the aluminuim head etc that comes with the SE ??
    thanks Rob

... or you can just fly what you've got and upgrade parts when needed due to a crash ...

Something we are all guilty of from time to time is upgrading just because there is an upgrade available.

I would go the SE if you can.Why not sell the 325 and put the monies into the SE.

      Or keep both

not really a case up upgrading for the sake of it, i was told that the cnc head tracks better, and as a newbie, i need all the help i can get, i also presume the cnc / alu heads etc would fair much better in the inevitible crashes i will have .
my only real question is with the quality of the head etc in th SE version..
        cheers Rob

IMO stick with what you have.

Is the difference really going to be that noticeable when you are Learning; no, it probably isn't.

Put the money towards some packs from Hobbycity, and get your money's worth by practising as much as you can on it. When you are doing things that the heli can't cope with, then upgrade...

Hi i know there will be a few to disagree with me here but if you are learing there will be a few crashes and on a 450 size heli you can spend a fortune on upgrades and get very little in return from them , sure cnc parts track a little better when you are pushing the heli in a 3d flight , but what you are after is any heli in the air and learing to fly if it was me save your money for your next heli a 500 or 600 size in a year or twos time and get your self a few spares all the best of luck in your flying

We've all been there, the upgrades are always tempting especially when people say something is 'better', the real question though is will this upgrade change something that is holding you back?

Slightly better tracking is not an issue when you are learning orientations and basic circuits for example. Your brain and hands are the biggest limitation, not the model.

Also metal will not serve you better when it comes to a crash as it is more likely to deform and stay that way. Good quality non-metal parts are what you really want in the early stages of this game and TT have always managed to use the right materials in the right places.

all great points, ok, i will stick with the stock tt parts until i get better, right now i cant even get it off the ground, when i try to, it looks like its leaning over to one side a bit, or tilting forward ( i have been adjusting the trim to no great avail.)
i dont want to bash it up again, so, i am waiting on the training balls..
its so much more scary than using phoenix rc.. i dont think the real thing is anything much like the sim when it comes to losing your bottle..lol

Hi rob if you have not had it in the air yet deffinatly wait on the training ball you say you are adjusting the trim to get it to lift off level personaly i would just level the swash plate by eye and not adjust the trims until you are in the air because when you lift off the heli may start to travel off quite quickly if there is to much trim put into the tx

well, yes, i did level it off by eye, but maybe not enough, il have another look at it, i leveled it off via the spektrum dx8 settings, but i forgot where i found those adjustments ..hmm..
training balls should be here tomorrow

Now you are not getting the upgrades i would invest in a decent Swash leveling tool and a decent pitch gauge mate and get your heli set up for starters . A well set up model will help massively especially when learning you want as much stability as you can get and a level swash and correct pitch range will help you far more than any bling ever will , good luck in the hobby . Rob .

Hi mate, my first cp heli was a tt325, just the old basic one and i had some real fun with it, it's a really good little heli, much better than the align stuff that seems to be so popular just lately. the only upgrades i did were out of neccessity, ie blades, servos tail boom etc, don't waste money on bling would be my advice aswell, learn to fly to a reasonable standard then buy something that's really worth tarting up, plenty of big 2nd hand helis out there that have been well looked after, i just picked up a fully loaded hirobo freya for a song 2nd hand, just been through it with the local shop and all is set up and now ready to fly. all for less than you paid for the mini tit and the tx. good luck with it and don't get side tracked.
                            regards, gram.

rob, i know the temptation is there but please don't buy anything rash and bring your heli along to WF to be checked. if there is anything you need we may have it or will suggest something no problems.

if you attempt to fly this as is your next post will be how do i fix-seen it soooooo often and wouldn't like to see it again.

i appreciate it is your new toy but if you can be patient or bring the heli to someone local it will be re-paid tenfold :-)

to lend some credence to this i have never ever seen a model built by a newcomer that is fit to fly-that is not a slur on the builder at all it is merely a reality which i have seen proven hundreds of times through the years.

                              cheers
