  • Can someone please answer this for me.

Yesterday I Pot trimmed the CX2 on the 4 in 1 so she faces the same direction and hovers well, of course while in a hover she moves about a bit while facing the same direction, but this is about as good as trimming gets

Today I thought the wind was claim and it was, but there was a faint breeze facing me so she struggled a bit, after five minutes outside with a couple of safe landings I thought bugger this it's more fun inside.

But imagine my surprise when I took her off and she started to slowly rotate and wasn't as stable before I went outside.

So I neutralized the pots and started from scratch, and eventually got her back to pin point flight status, no turning drift, and the hovering was great to, OK they all move about a bit when no imput is offered for five seconds, and small adjustments with the controller brings her back to where she was, so I'm well pleased with the control performance.

But does anyone know why taking her outside upset the settings? this has happened twice now in the past, yet flight after flight indoors she's spot on and ready everytime for a flawless flight, not including pilot error, lol.

I'm now sticking to flying her indoors, it's safer and really more fun, as she was fighting a little with a breeze and her forward performance out doors today wasn't great, indoors she's like a rocket going up and down the livingroom.

So really the CX2 is 95% more an indoor heli, and I'll go for the outside stuff when I buy something with more balls.

Im just wondering if like on a heading hold gyro it keeps track of its last controlled heading and tries to make the tail compensate. outside you have a slight breaze constantly even on an almost perfectly still day, so im wondering if its still trying to compensate for this once you take it in.

be interested to know if you flew it a few times indoors whether it would straighten itself out
    All the best
    Tony.

      Thanks Tony

I was wondering that myself mate, I put it down to being under more stress outside, and as the CX2 is a very basic heli it just upset the balance a bit.

As I say indoors once the settings have been made so long as no mishap happens she's mantanance free.

I find I am always trimming yaw.... at the start of the battery the torque is high...as it fades it dies off....and start to twist more. I do hope to buggery that when I start flying the 600 the batteries there don't pull that stunt.

the gyro wont be a heading hold gyro. Its probably just beacuase of the slight breeze you are having to use slightly more power to keep it aloft, and thus when indoors you are using less power and have to re-trim it slightly. A heading hold gyro on a trex 600e wont do the same as you have a separate rx battery and motor battery....

If its not HH, it was more than likely weather cocking into the wind and staying there.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

            And a DX8 too

Cheers chaps, I did put it down to being a basic heli, it was just a **** off having to adjust the pots from scratch again, but hey, this is what it's all about.

Indoor only from now on me thinks, last time before this I had her hovering over a lamp post in a slight wind thinking, "this is going to hurt the bank balance again this week, luckily though I managed to land her and on the skids.

Sod going outdoors until I have some extra HP behind the blades.
