  • Twister Medevac flight duration

    Hi,

What sort of flight duration do you Co-Ax flyers get from your birds? I get about 7 mins from my Twister Medevac using the stock LiPo (which has had quite a few cycles now). I have upgraded with the CNC swashplate and main rotor hub but left the plastic top rotor hub in place (I had a few crashes early on and the flybar popped out each time which saved some shaft damage I guess. The CNC top hub would not allow that).

I did go over the bearings and gears with a squirt of 3-In-One silicone spray lubricant (slippy but not sticky) and have the impression that put my duration up a bit (5%) but that may not be a significant increase. A bit of lube from time to time strikes me as a good idea though, just as long as it doesn't pick up grit etc.

How did you kill your old battery? I'm a bit paranoid about these LiPos (have probably been watching too many vids of people setting them on fire. Need to spend more time flying )

The Electrolite is a bit longer than the stock JP. Did you have any balance problems and/or have to make any adjustments to the battery tray?

it was just from over use lol flight times just decreased to about 3 mins

well it wasnt much longer and on the bell 47, there's no tray so it just velcrows to the bottom. (meaning it was easy to adjust, by moving it along the velcrow.)

        cheers,
        Tom

My Blade CX2 goes for 10 mins at a push, but I don't fly with declining power, thats the way to kill a Lipo. Talking of which the original e-flight 800mAHr pack keeps puffing up in flight, but I re-use it when its gone down again. Done this several times, but last time the pack stayed a bit puffy. I think its toast! Anyhow the best pack I have is a 900mAHr DN power. Its still 2S and slots straight in. Works well. I can't believe these titchy Lipos are still like 20 quid - Rip Off...........

My CX2 seems to last about 10 mins...if I'm bobing abbout....but in the air constantly...... time's a bit less.

I did discover one thing though. The batteries seem to perform better when slapped on a decent charger. I bought a good quality charger for the HoneyBee Belt CP and it charges the little ones as well and for seem reason it seemed to increase the duration of them.

Again as said above I get a good ten minutes fly time with my CX2, I find keeping a steady power output makes it last a bit longer, as I'm sure 50% of the storage is possibly lost in heat.

Which begs me to ask this question, after a charge would sticking the batt in the freezer for ten minutes improve it's performance, being that bit cooler to Begin with?
