  • Twitchy tail can anyone help please

    Hi

I've just replaced the two shafts, four fresh blades and put everything back together launched her and for no adjustments she didn't fly bad at all.

The only thing I haven't replaced is the fly bar which should be arriving in the next few days.

When I had the fly bar off I rolled it along my PC desk, using the end weights and rubber surrounds as the wheels obviously.

What I noticed is as it rolled the centre bobbed up and down slightly as it traveled, is this a clear case of a slightly bend balance bar, and could this in-turn be the reason as the chopper when facing away from you, seems to be in a slow ( tail to the right, nose to the left) spin, plus it drifts to the right a little also.

I've tried everything to adjust things but I can't get her to fly as rock steady as I did on the last refit, yet I've done nothing different, except the blades are new, and on the precious set up one of the top blades had a slight piece missing from near the end of the blade, yet the flight was perfect.

When I lift off she tends to move forward slightly and again with that slight rotation, which previously I had in the bag.

I've only had three test flights with her, so far, don't get me wrong with very slight rudder control you can get by this, but me being me wants it to fly like I had it before.

    Any suggestions chaps...please.

Have you tried adjusting your trim's on your transmitter? A couple of clicks of left tail and a couple of clicks of left alieron should see you ok.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

    And a DX8 too

      Thanks James

Yes I've done this, possibly I've been over compensating for the drift, but I can't seen to get it as spot on as before mate.

OK, I don't know if I described it wrong before had, but I've added a little trim to the left on the aileron, and just over a quarter trim to the right on the rudder, and it seems to have it balanced out, the batt was near the end of its life when I made this change, so I'm hoping this has solved it, and it's not down to the batt having reached that point where you need to land her.

Saying all of this she moves perfectly, controls are positive and you always feel in total control.

Am I asking a little too much of a cheap heli, as new blades can cause different flight gremlins, but I do look forward to replacing that balance bar soon.

          OK I've sorted it.

Learning curve of the day: "when replacing shafts and blades old settings may not work as well".

"So then it's time to make a whole new rule book for flight and trimming".

Thank you James for your impute.

She's back to being peachie again.

No problem's, if your flybar is bent, when you change it you will have to re -trim, just the same as after any major work.

                Thanks chaps.

I love these things, they take a mechanical knock, you take them apart replace the part(s) and she's back as good as new.

I hate damaged items, with these hobby heli's it costs peanuts to them keep going after a slight mishap.

What happened was I got up to let the cat in I was landing the CX2 at the same time, I dropped the TX onto my lap, it went into full throttle smacking the side cabinet of the TV, I totalled all the blades, but you'd never know now.

I think the flybar is OK, shes's flying on a six pence again so there can't be to much wrong with it.

I'll keep the one coming as a spare.

And not even a scratch on the outer body work, now work that one out.

Just to update on my learning progress.

I've just trimmed the Gyro Gain and the proportional mix pots in the 4 in 1.
Now it stays in a hover and doesn't move hardly at all, perfectly stable flight, no matter what I done on the TX it wouldn't change, and after putting a fully charged battery this morning when I took off it wobbled, plus it continued to spin slowly.

So I read up on the pot adjustments, made the necessary adjustments and she takes off perfectly fine no wobble, and now stays put in the air with no input from the TX.

And they were only very fine pot adjustments as well, about a sixth of a turn was all that was needed to polish it off nicely.

Now the trims on the TX are all central, with just a couple of clicks back on the forward flight trim, the control now is out of this world.

Yesterday I was so eager I didn't let the batts charge fully, so I didn't know about the fully charge wobble, when the batts are always a bit fierce until they settle down.
