  • Phoenix Sim arrived !!!

Well what can I say....it's bloody amazing.

OK let me be methodical about this....

For CX2 pilots....there is no CX2 Blade..... BUT there's a heli called a Lama complete with twin counter main blades like the CX2 and bugger me..... it flies 'exactly' like the CX2 ..... incredible !!!

For Belt CP pilots there's a trainer (complete with training gear !!!!) .50 Nitro that's so similar to the Honeybee it's totally scary and fab at the same time.... I am and was completely blown away about how similar this is to my Belt CP I can't start to explain......

I loaded up the 600 T-Rex with XL motor (yes there's variants of the 450 and 600 in Electric and Nitro form set for sport and 3D and bigger motor like the 600XL) and after wrapping it on anything and everything I settled down after an hour and fell in Love. I'm buying a 600xl elec no iff's or buts anymore.....it's fekkin gorgeous to fly and mad as well. Although without training gear I did find it a pig to take off and land but I can 'sort of' hover it.....meaning it's level and drifts off into the horizon when a breeze catches it.

I did notice the Nitro version of the 600 was a little more feisty .... can't describe it other than a little sharper and .... well .... 'feisty'. *shrug*

Ok so downsides to the sim..... It's either not fond of Vista or my 30" monitor at max resolution... because every so often it bombs out. Also my eSky attachment lead (little Din plug) is very loose in the back and keeps dropping out.

However....screw these 2 faults. This trainer is bloody awesome. The 'fly-in' feature is sooooo cool. I'm sure I saw a member on there called Goldust ..... I managed to crash into his heli but there was no repair bill Honest to god.... if you got a heli...even a CX2... this should be your next stop. You get to try all the heli's before you buy and they are different !!! Awesome....Just Awesome

          In search of reality

          Hi,

I got my DX7 TX and copy of Phoenix yesterday. I agree it's the dog's n**ts, especially once it's upgraded to the lastest version.

Just wanted to share my set-up with you guys

"Her Indoors" wanted the desktop for a bit of surfin' so I installed a copy of Phoenx on my laptop (Samsung Q35 in case you want to Google for the spec). Anyway - then I thought "why not go a bit further?" so I moved to the living room and hooked the laptop up to a projector throwing onto a 6ft screen. Final step was to pipe the sound through the HiFi. AWESOME

Here are a couple of pics

          IMG_2791.JPG IMG_2792.JPG

I find that flying the sim is MUCH easier on the big screen for some reason. Anyway, I am now wondering if it would help to buy a bit of Astroturf to stand on when I'm flying

              Yep.

Also get a big sun lamp and place it just behind your neck so that you get the true "back from the field" look when you've finished

              Cheers

60"? lol - you don't want one of those pint-sized little baby screens, you need one of these:

                            http://www.engadget.com/2005/01/07/s...est-plasma-tv/

Saw one in a shop when I was working out in the middle east... thought about it, but a bit big for a carry-on.

Still, would be good for running Phoenix on.

                            Cheers - Rob.
