  • Flight Box Options/Ideas

    Hi all,

I have a basic flight box but found I needed to carry a tool box as well. I just got to thinking what other options there may be.

Do you guys keep your flying gear (starter, pump, charger etc) and tools together or have a different box for each.

I would be interested to see/hear what your soulutions are.

    Cheers

    Dave.

I use one main flight box for all the starting crap and glow plugs and general odds and bits required at the field.

Another box at home full of more bits for when there on the bench for one reason or another

Lol, um yess - guess so ... a bottle of Taymar gas, tub of kerosene, hand crank pump... everything else for starting is in the jet.

I still like my electrics though

Go to your local diy shop and buy a big tool box. I have all my tools and a bunch of basic spares starter, 2 7ah batteries in parallel etc in there. I have a tx case and a fuel bottle cap with a clunk line too. You can mount a panel to the tool box but i prefer a study connector for the starter and one of these 12v glow drivers. I will take some pics and post them when i get home

I have a plane flight box with power panel and another diy box full of plane and heli bits and tools and then I have another case with Tx's in them ...depending on what I am flying is what I take with me .. If only the heli then its tool box and I have a car charging station and a standalone glow plug I use for my nitro truck ... luckily i have a frontera long wheelbase so its never an issue ....

My wickes toolbox contains my trex, tranny and a host of spares and goes everywhere with me (see other post on heli carry case).
When my rappy goes out there is just the fuel and hand pump, glow stick and an electric drill with a sawn off ball ended allen key in the chuck to take too.
I try pretty hard to avoid extra boxes of stuff and ancillery equipment but the equipment keeps increasing- the trex box is bulging.

At the moment I only put the DX 2.4G in the trex so theres an extra tranny temporarily at well.

Thanks for your responses guys, food for thought.

look forward to your pics Ade, thanks.

I was thinking about one of those Stanley trolley things which looks like two stacking boxes on wheels. Might save a few trips to the car to get everything needed.

                  Dave.

Since my motorcycle accident I've had to rethink what I can now carry about.

If I can't fly without it, it goes in my flight box to the field. If its useful for running repairs and adhoc servicing it goes in the car, and only comes out at the field if needed. And, if its a more major item used for stripping down, rebuilding, etc. or an obvious bench item (such as delicate equipment) it stays in the wokrshop at home.

At one of the clubs I fly planks at, there is a porta-cabin and tool/workshop enclosure where I am able to leave inexpensive or cumbersome items locked away. Every little helps!
Peace: Being left alone to examine the new bits you've just bought!

                      That's what I got.
.....and one of those compartment tray, box thingies for spares.
                      From wickes I think.
