  • Training Gear.... warning and request

    Hi Guys,

Can you post some good solid training gear for a Heli roughly 450 / Belt CP size pls ?

A word of warning to those buying training gear like me. I ordered the Buzzflyers own training gear for my Belt CP. DON'T !!!!

The little plastic disc in the middle that the little legs with balls on clips into has 6 slots so it means the legs sticking out the side are 60 degress apart instead of the usual 90. This means less help front and back.

More importantly though.... the little plastic disc the legs actually clip into is brittle and poor quality plastic. It breaks very easily and whereas I order 2 training sets (so i got 4 disc's) I have broken all 4 now. Believe me when i tell you that each time it broke it wasn't a particularly hard landing at all. Also the legs can fall out of the holes unless you put a drop of super-glue in there.

EDIT : The training gear may not bbe buzzflyers own brand as I found them on EBAY...... Here's a link so you can see what I mean and know what to avoid...... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/400-500-Size-H...QQcmdZViewItem

Nip down to your local model shop and buy some 4 mm carbon rod then whilst your out local sport shop and buy some ping pong balls, i bought 12 for 99p i think it was, drill holes into 4 balls, bit of fuel tube at the end to stop them falling off, drill another ball with 2 holes so it forms a cross in the and threadle the rods through( before you stick on the outer balls of course) cable tie them on the skids, there you go homemade training undercarriage.

    hope this helps

Kevin's suggestion is the best thing to do. I had the same problem as you, bubblefish, in that my training gear game with a 6-holed disc. Because there were 2 discs in the pack, I tiewrapped the two together in such a way that I could have a proper base with four diagonally opposite holes.

I think you can just about see it in this picture:

Yes I thought about that.....but then I though 'Nah....surely a modelling shop knows what it's selling etc.....maybe this is what everyone is using...'
