Higher Quality than MSR? same size

Are there any micro helis, fixed pitch, that are better quality than the MSR? i,e with metal / carbon bits and so on? or is the logical progression simply onto the MCPX?

The MSR is built with the materials it is for a reason. Aftermarket bits of carbon and metal are a false economy and a waste of time for a beginner. If you are experienced with it then fair enough.... bling it to your hearts content... But the idea of the MSR is to be relatively indestructible so a beginner can pick it back up and fly again from a crash. If you put all the 3rd party shiny crap on it you are gonna loose servos, main n feathering shafts and even the main control board. If you strengthen the other bits the shocks from the will find there way into more important parts and destroy them. Also you want to keep the weight exactly as it is for it to fly properly. You need to work out wether you actually want to learn the basics to fly.... or just grin as your shiny carbon lump bundles itself around the room. Personally i think cool flying skills outweigh all that bling rubbish at this stage. Just wait till you can fly and are ready to move onto bigger cp helis.... plenty of "necessary" bling to be had once you can actually fly

I love my micros...they got me started and taught me the very basics.
I have had loads....MCX,MSR,SR120 and SR and the MCPX.

Of all the micros the MCPX is the one to have.
There are issues like wobbling and stuff but all the mods and fixes are posted on the forum.They are quick and easy to do and do make a difference to the way it flies.
There are other FP micros but most are total kerrrrap,you can bling up an MSR but I think you would be better off using the money to get an MCPX.
With the benefit of hindsight I would not have started this hobby/addiction with micros but would have taken the Phoenix,Dx6i 450 route....but hey you can't get it right all the time.
Having said that,if this little micro had been on the market when I started I would deffo have got one.

ChickenHawk is also spot on there. Save your money for a dx6 (Top tx for the money, a great tool for anyone wanting to progress in the addictio.... errrr ... disease...errrr... i mean hobby ) Also the mcpx is a great intro into cp helis. Get a sim too.... Phoenix is the way forward. I would get Phoenix and a dx6 first personally. It will save you ££££££££ in repairs. Its defo not a cheap hobby though sadly. You will disappear down the rabbit hole along with the cash!!! Better than drinking or smoking your money away though. No hobby is as rewarding as this one. It takes time, patience and dedication though. I thought i would just stick with my msr, 120sr and dx6..... boy was i wrong.... 10 helis and about 6 grand later here i am.... love every second of it though!!!!!!!
