  • Nine Eagles Solo Pro / 260A problems...

    Guys,

Got the 260A running last night but it is behaving a bit oddly. I can get it running and flying ok but the turning is weird. When turning right (with the yaw stick) the heli turns fine accelerating in speed a bit as it does so but when turning the nose left, as it turns it actually stops moving and starts going backwards slightly (unless I give loads more forward input, which is not needed when turning right).

Also to me it looks like the heli is always leaning to the right slightly (in roll), but it hovers fine without moving sideways and any trimming of the roll to level it makes it move sideways to the left.

    Any ideas?

All single rotor heli with a tail rotor lean a little to the right when flying.
To stop the heli spinning the tail rotor is pushing the tail to the left, the heli has to lean slightly right to no go sideways. Even full size helicopters are like that.

As regards the tuning, when yawing right you are actually helping the rotors to go round so that might expalin why it accellerates, the yaw is like upping the left stick a little. Similarly yawing left is like slowing the rotor down slightly.

Its quite likely that on suich a basic helicopter there is some error in the way the aileron input works and you might get some change in elevator as you move the right hand stick sideways. This is called "interaction". However on a heli none of the controls are completely independant, each one causes a change to another one so you end up constantly moving all the controls to stay still.

IF the axes of the swshplate are a long way off (aileron makes th enose go up and down a bit, elevator makes it roll a bit) then its possible something is bent - check the swashplate is straight and the thing that stops the outside spinning is lined up correctly.

Yopu heli looks very like amn Eflite Blade MSR. Have fun with it.

I'll get a picture tonight, to me the swash plate assembly looks like it is at the wrong angle... I will compare with the second hand MSR that I received today as well... also I can understand a slight difference in turning but would not expect it to be so marked as to actually make the heli move backwards when turning left. The only way to avoid this is to tilt forward fully to counter it...and then it does not move forward very much..
