    hi
i need a bit of help in crossing from electric helis to nitro
i am about to fire up Vision50 with os50 sx
for my RX(AR7000) i have a 4.8 volts 2.7Ah NI-MH power is it good enough?if so do i need volt regulator?
if not what power and volts(regulator) recommend(S9256 on tale)?
on electric helis i have a thro curve 0 90 90 90 90 norm and 90 90 90 90 90 or 100s stunt but what shell it be for my vision with Align RCE-G600 Gov and what head speed i want(am already inverted)
and finally if my OS is second hand with unknown past what shell i check or change
would be lovely to hover it tmrw

I personally would be looking at a different receiver pack.

A 2s2200mah lipo and a Flighttech 8amp reg will also be fine.

    2050rpm on a 50 is about right.

ok but it will be quite a pain to get 2s lipo by tmrw(have lots of 3s)so is my power sufficient and do i need regulator(i have that flighttech and it regs form 5 to 6volts) when only 4.8 i have
      and 2050rpm norm/stunt?
thanks for your opinions but answers am looking for as am a very "little boy" without my opinion to compare with

just noticed on s9256 box it says "Ni-Cd use only" so can i use my power(Ni-Mh) or li-po ?

You can use a 2700mah MiNh pack. I have used them and there are pros and cons to something like that
vs a regulator and Lipo. I moved away from the NiMh packs because they take a long time to charge
and it is difficult to know for sure if one is fully charged and they have a steep voltage drop off
before the full capacity is reached. But for the moment you can certainly use one, just make very
sure it is fully charged and monitor the voltage. My guess would be if your Vision is flybarred you
can probably get 2 or 3 flights safely before needing to charge but it depends on the servos
          and stuff.

Regarding the headpseed and throttle curves; with a nitro engine you'll want a fairly linear throttle
curve and it's usually a good idea to setup curves that will work without the governor just in
case the gov cuts out for any reason you'll have a reasonable engine rpm at whatever stick
position. If you have never worked with a nitro engine before it would be a good idea to get
some help from an experienced nitro flyer just to make sure you're on the right track.

For hovering and gentle circuits and stuff you don't need that high headspeed, the 2050
would be your idle-up range for 3D / aerobatic stuff.

that's hopeful i fly wherever i can but no clubs i went to one(barking) but it was very beginning and was scared to hover(still shaking a lot after 1st battery)
that was few months ago now i hover inverted and think am ready for my vision and vibe am pretty good in set up(many crushes) except for engines and flybarless coz haven't attempt any of those and haven't got enough basics yet
am spending to much time reading building(setting) my helis then flying so guide from an experienced nitro flyer would speed things up a lot
            i live in north london(n15)
            where r u flying?

Regarding throttle curves where would be my 0 point for idle with last point at 100%?

Yeah generally your throttle curves for normal mode will start at zero and either go up to 100 or maybe a bit less. I usually
set the curve so that around the point where you're hovering (roughly 3/4 stick) the throttle curve is a bit flatter so
that small stick movements don't change the throttle a lot and it lets you settle into a steady hover a bit easier, but
if you're running the governor all the time then it won't matter. I tend to set mine where my normal mode is just using
the curves in the TX and then the governor kicks in when I go to idle-up but this is a personal preference thing.

For setting the idle speed you'll use the throttle trim, so when you bring the trim right down it shuts
the engine off and somewhere in the middle you get a reasonable idle.

I am on the other side of town in South East London (SE14) and I fly mainly in Surrey but sometimes in Croydon.
