blimey what a question to ask. Any good at what? Learning? On the face of it, 90 quid for an RTF is not bad, but being fixed pitch, you are probably going to out grow it quite quickly if you "get into" helis.Growing old is mandatory...growing up is optional!

You will grow out of this too quickly.. you might aswell buy a picco z and save some pennies!
IMO.. skip it and go for a mcpx, i know its more but it will give you a better insight/progression into the hobby

i have to agree you will grow out of it withing a week or so and for what they cost you may as well just go into town & buy one from the market stall at 20 quid as thats about all they good as.. all they good for is just to hover in the front room...
put a little more to & go for the mcpx with a dx6.. & then you will really find out what its like to fly a heli & its as easy to fly if not more stable.... i first bought the msr & got bored with it after only a dozen flights & sold it on... dont make the same mistake..Flying Since : Feb 2009

thanks for the comments guys... but the mcpx is collective pitch right? sounds a bit complex to learn to fly as a first heli..ill think it over.. also looking at the Buzz Fly SE.. any thought on that or same feedback as previous?Originally posted by BaRoN30s View Posti have to agree you will grow out of it withing a week or so and for what they cost you may as well just go into town & buy one from the market stall at 20 quid as thats about all they good as.. all they good for is just to hover in the front room...

I still haven't outgrown my msr - hilarious office lunch hours
mcpx turned out bad for me, too much for indoors, but I suppose it flies outdoors ok.
Msr (I guess T-Rex 100 would be similar) was a gentle way in, and huge fun. Flinging it around indoors can be absorbing for at least the lifespan of the model in my experience (on my fifth, three replaced for free from Horizon - you won't get that with Align).

Stick with the msr if you are going to buy anything. Your going to crash alot, and the msr is indistructable! I out grow mine within a few weeks, then went and got a mcpx and dx8. It's great for flying indoors on these cold winter nights, when I can't get out to fly my 550e. My msr now has a set of inverted blades on it, so I can practise inverted hovers. And when it all goes wrong, just kill the power and no damage :-)Jr forza 700 - one mean machine!lol

Avoid like the plague... I had one of these to begin with, complete waste of money and it almost put me off learning to fly.Originally posted by jackpe View Postalso looking at the Buzz Fly SE.. any thought on that or same feedback as previous?Pete

I had an msr and it lasted about 5 mins in attention span and I broke tail motor in that time too.
If your only lookin for a desk toy or to p**s off the kids and pets then fine but if you eventually want more then go straight in with an mcpx it will teach you alot more than a fixed pitch ;-)sigpic

The one I have is complete pants. Not a patch on the MSR. But it looks like they are of variable quality, unlike the MSR, so maybe you would be lucky and get a good one.Life's a bitch and then you fly!!

As already said avoid Buzz fly / Century / Walkera (all the same thing with different label on) like the plague - not easy to learn with because of their foibles (things break too easily). MSR or MCPX ( if you're fast to learn) are the best choice; the TRex basically flopped because Blade came up with the MCPX.Originally posted by jackpe View Postthanks for the comments guys... but the mcpx is collective pitch right? sounds a bit complex to learn to fly as a first heli..ill think it over.. also looking at the Buzz Fly SE.. any thought on that or same feedback as previous?Gravity is your best and worst friend!

i started with a 30 sized nitro (baron30) it doesn't matter what you start with as long as you take it nice & easy & dont try to do more than your happy with...Originally posted by jackpe View Postthanks for the comments guys... but the mcpx is collective pitch right? sounds a bit complex to learn to fly as a first heli..ill think it over.. also looking at the Buzz Fly SE.. any thought on that or same feedback as previous?
look at some of the comments above you will be wasting your money with a align 100 or msr or anything like that.. as YOU WILL grow out of it within a couple or weeks... dont waste your money... put a little extra towards & go with the mcpx as it flys very stable... much better than the msr or 100 & its the same size...Flying Since : Feb 2009
