  • hi guys

hi guys this is my 1st post

i wouldnt say i new to r/c as i have flown planes and done cars but i really wanted to fly a heli but i was always told stay with planes they are easyer so after a few years later i got shot of all the planes as my main hobby is drag racing ( drag seasons over now ) till the other week my son wanted a little 3 channel heli so off to the shops an got a cheap 3 channel toy lol after a while i picked it up and played with it and im now hooked back on helis !

so i when and get myself a e-razor 450 and took it out side and run 1 battery through it and what a rush

so i found a raptor v2 cheap on ebay all ready to go so when i got it i put it together and though fook me ! it was all upgrade parts on it and it was well looked after but i didnt have the balls to fly it

so sitting on ebay again another raptor turned up really cheap compleat again ( to cheap realy ) got it home and the engine was well and truley jamed so after a lot of buggering about i free`d it up and got it running spot on so monday i strapped on the training gear and decided to give it a go as i wasnt over bothered if i crashed it as it was one i have got for next to nothing

i managed to get it off the ground just but as soon as i dropped the throttle a little it would just drop so hard and when i was on the ground after landing it it would just jump up if a dropped it to idle quick

though to my self somethings not right as my 450 didnt do that so i though it was down to me and i was doing something wrong ..

so today i went through everthing , the heli and radio to find out all the setting on the radio were well off to what i had read on raptortechnique.com so i set it up to what they said for beginners and boy did it change it as im a learner ive still got to a lot to learn and a lot to ask but i am teaching my self as there no clubs that i no of near me that fly heli`s and if there was i need someone to teach me of an eveing or during the week as i work weekends

the only clubs i no of are planes and i really dont want to fly planes again they are boring compaired to a heli ive trimmed it out to the best i could but the tail is still needing a lot of stick to keep it straight but other than that it seems to fly ok

got my old boy to take a video of me with it please take into acount this heli has had less than half a gallon of fuel through it so i think its had 4 flights now or should i say i have

just waiting on video to upload then ill post link

my old boy wants to learn to fly one as well but i think i need to get a bit better before i can teach him

if anybody has any pointers i would be greatfull as like ive said im teaching myself

    cheers all

There is an helicopter club that flies at the rugby club in Thorney I believe. There are a couple of forum members on here who fly there who you could try and contact. Site user POLAR BEAR is one of them I think.

I work in Peterborough but have never been there or met them as I live 65 miles away!

got a bit fed up today as ive done my shoulder in and it was windy so i thought i would take my little 450 out to have a mess around its not set up like my rapter its a bit of a hand full really i could do with toning down a little but i though sod it ive got to learn one way or the other and ive read so many differnt things and i think half of it is worrying about crashing some say push that little bit harder and try different things others say just hover and the wind botherd me a little (didnt with planes i would fly in stupid winds )
