There is a lot to learn. Most people start by learning to fly. Either on a sim or with a coax heli. You'll need somewhere to fly and insurance as well. Try looking at the BMFA site for clubs. It takes most people a long time and a lot of money to learn to fly. Many clubs won't let you fly on your own unless you have reached a safe level of flying. The instruction book for a heli will tell you most of what you need to know and this forum will help you out with anything you get stuck on.

      Here's some basics:
      For your 450
Setting up & flying your T-Rex

      Calming 450 sized heli's

For your Raptor everytrhing you need to know is here:
      Raptor Technique

You need plenty of space to fly the raptor and its noisy - you can try the 450 in a smaller space. 3rd party insurance is not a legal requirement but is well worth it as it is possible to hurt someone with either heli.
Many of us on here learned to fly on our own with 450 sized helis, it means a lot of crashing but then once you are flying well you are a lot less concerned about crashing!
I started flying at a club when I got my larger glow powered heli.

Dont spend more flying models than it costs to fly for real

Hi brian, have you thought about joining a club? the nearest (i think) for helis is norwich, they fly on thursdays and sundays at easton just behind the showground on the new easton college rd, try emailing them and get an invite down there, i've been twice now and they're a really decent bunch. As far as setting up your heli goes, try pegasus models, craig does most of the build projects but most of them fly helis anyway so try them too,

Hi Brian , there is a club at the show ground which is avaiable for use every day, if you pm me I'll let you know the contact details for the chairman, theres also clubs at acle, wymondham, attlebrough, felthorpe and my club which flys at RAF coltishall . Do go to Pegasus models ( catton grove road, Norwich) and ask for Tony,Craig,Joe or tom I'm sure they be very happy to answer any questions you have. If you have an indoor model there's the new open acadmey school which has a flyin 3weeks. Good luck.
