DX7 and T-Rex 450 - receiver options

Would it be better to use a Spektrum AR6100 receiver in a T-Rex 450 or is there plenty room for the AR7000? I wasn't figuring on the AR6000 as it seems this is the park flyer version shipped with the DX6 set.

The Ar6100 would be fine because your not realy going to be flying a small heli that far away, But for not much more money you can now get the AR6200 which is 2 rx,s like the 7000 and full range but same size as the 6100, Its what ive got fitted to my 450 se v2

Thanks for that Gaza. Any suggestions on a good place to buy (including the TX)? I'd like to support forum members if possible.

I guess it might be difficult to avoid buying a full DX7 set including servos and AR7000 (although I see you can get a set specailly configured for micro's in the USA).

If you havent got the phoenix flight sim its well worth getting to practise on it will save you a lot of cash in the long run and realy is the best sim about at the moment

Yeah - I was figuring on the TX and SIM for a start. Thanks for the link (although the TX seems to be out of stock at the moment).

I'll check again when I get back from hols.

I stuck the 6100 in my Mini Titan and I've had no problems with it at all and I regularly fly far out, at least as far as my eyes will allow With the 6200 available it might be worth using but I've got both and the 6100 is very small and very light. I wouldn't use the 6000 at all.

The 6100 is actually a full range receiver but doesn't have a second satellite receiver like the others so the recommendation that it's used in parkflyers is due to the increased risk of shadowing the aerials. If you stick the receiver between the sideframes at the back of the heli with the aerials sticking out each side this doesn't seem to be an issue.

Be aware that the very first 6100 receivers had a 'glitch' which could cause a crash in some circumstances, although almost impossible to duplicate, make sure any 6100 you buy has at least a V1.2 sticker on it.

Whooooooo! Just bought a DX7 with Phoenix SIM from MrModels in Dorset. Bought an AR6200 RX while I was at it. Everything is in stock and they promise to ship it today for delivery tomorrow (free delivery too!)

I too Have a a DX7 plus AR6200

I have mounted mine on Zoom 400 and both receivers fit just fine. I bought mine from Pegasus models in Norwich

I use my DX7 with reflex and love it so far! it has proven to be very easy to program as well.

RX comes with the binding key that you use to bind the RX to the TX.

I bought a AR6200 recently, new in box, and it came with the bind plug

My 450 has so far performed faultlessly with the DX7 and AR6200 two part rx (rx is lighter than the 146i pcm I had in it before).

The AR6200 came with a bind plug (hidden away in what at first sight looks lke a spacer box in the plastic outer). Hidden with it were the instructions too.

The TX came with its own set of bind plugs so I guess I have some spares now.

As for the service from Mr Models what can I say but SUPERB. I placed my order online yesterday at 10 a.m. and I was signing for the delivery on my doorstep at 09:30 this morning.

TX is on charge and I am off to install Phoenix now
