  • Belt cp

Hi, i got a belt cp as a present of off my girlfriend and need help in setting it up, i have never flown a helicopter so im a complete novice, ive had it out and tried to fly it but i would say it needs to be set up as it didnt even want to come of off the floor (no matter what i done) in the end i had a boom strike.
I live near Boston in Lincs, does anybody know of some one or a club around near me that could help me just set it up so i know it is set up rif=ght before i try again.

    Regards Dan.

    Hey Dan,
I don't have a Belt CP myself, but they look pretty decent for the price. If you're at full throttle and the heli still isn't coming off the ground then that seems to imply that your pitch settings aren't set up right.

Disconnect the motor (v.important!) and put your transmitter into normal mode. With the throttle stick all the way down, your blade angle should be somewhere between -2 and 0 degrees (depending on personal preference).

With the stick all the way up, the blade angle should be around 10 degrees.

Before you do all of that though, it's worth setting up the head correctly, i.e. making sure all the links are the right length and that the servos at at 90 degrees in mid-range (both by making sure that the servo arms are on the correct spline and by possible use of sub-trim, although other people here say that sub-trim shouldn't be used).

What would be pretty good for you would be to register at helifreak.com and look at some of the finless bob videos of him setting up some collective pitch heads. Even if he doesn't have a belt CP video, you'll learn a lot.

Or you could just go down to your local flying club!

    Good luck,
    Daniel

Hi there, I have one of these as an interim to a Trex 450. They are reasonable cheap to repair so thats the big bonus.

When you set your pitch I would suggest 0 to 1 degree at 50% throttle then that way if you dump the throttle in landing/crash you might avoid a boom strike.

Mines been particulary prone to boom strikes and I reackon its because I had -10/+10 set. So now that I put it back together this evening I'm going to 0 and +10.

Oh and it probably is the pitch setting thats stopping you taking off. It was on mine.
