  • Help with Blade MCP-X

I just bought this heli, and have had numerous problems.....it all started with a duff charger, fortuantly i have a spare ...

I have a DX6I controller, and binded it, i entered all my setting, and of i went. I tested the controlls while holding my heli to ensure its all good. But i found that when i give it full right/left (straff) the gyro holds in that position untill i give it opposite. It seems to fly ok ... but i havnt tried manouvers that require full stick, too worried incase it jams.

I also realised, that when my heli has Idle up off the rotor wont work, just alters the blade pitch, when idle up is off it acts as if it is on and flies in stunt mode. Is it possible to fly the MCP-X using just normal throttle to ascend?. Flying in stunt mode all the time is really tough for me!

I hope i explained that right, any replies are much appreciated, thanks !

Oh, and any tips on flying this would be greatly helpful, its a tweaky beast!!! haha

Make sure you have idle up throttle curve set, and also that your not hitting throttle hold instead of idle up, it has been done lol

Because of the 3 in one board, it will not function in your hand the same as it will in the air, as long as the swash goes left right up down etc... the same as your input, trays all you have to worry about

Sure sounds as if you're using throttle hold instead of IU. Exactly what the response would be. IU on the DX6i is the " Gear" switch. Go for a complete run thru'all the settings as per the manual again to be sure all is perfect. As for flying tips ? Outdoors, calm day would be best, taking everything very slowly ( i.e. not huge jerky stick thrashing, it's response is virtually instantaneous ) at first, get her up to a few feet with very gentle inputs till you notice it will hover all by itself hands off for 10 seconds or more, be very amazed, get super confident and splat the little bu**er into the deck. Well that's what I did anyway. From there it's only a matter of how skilled you already are at heli flying, if at all, and progressing, again very slowly, with various orientations coupled with several soil hardness tests, to verify the toughness of this wee beastie and you're in for some real fun, and cheap too. Good luck with it buddy.

mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

I double checked my setting, and they match up perfectly. However .... you are both correct on the IU being confused with throttle hold, Now i can fly this heli using the original throttle up and stunt mode. I had a little play around in my house with this, and its getting a tad easier, tomorrow will be the day i call up for new blades and a tail boom haha.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease about the sticky swash, now i have no worries about flying .

As for my Heli skills, i started with a Merlin 60 i think it was, duel rotor, then after mastering that i got a 120 SR, i would say im 80% confident there, and now the MCP-X. 10% confident!. Thanks for all the advice, saved me alot of time. Really appreciated

They are cracking little helis and VERY crash resistant. Eventually, you may split the tail boom, but a replacement actually improves handling, just a length of 2mm carbon rod as opposed to hollow tube (so the wires run down the outside rather that inside) but it's much stronger.

After a crash, always check the bottom gear is properly clicked into place, otherwise it'll try to vibrate itself to bits.
