        Welcome to the forum Ian

Thank God somebody's at last taken notice of the get Phoenix first advice, defiantly the right move m8.

The mcpx is a fun little heli to fly in Phoenix (and yes it does need setting to passive fly bar) but I personally think your better off starting by learning on one of the bigger helis like a 500 or 600 and then work your way down in size

        Anyway, enjoy.

Ive tried the big ones on Phoenix. And wow they are tough. I keep trying the Trex 450. Getting better at it, but think ill stick with the tiddlers for now

Hi buddy, welcome to the forum - very good start with what youve got - bit of a tip though go for the bigger still helis - 600-700 size then work your way smaller; treat it like youre doing it for real and put some cash away each time you crash.....you will soon have the cash for spares/next heli!!!
            Have fun

Right then, I gave into temptation today and got the mCPx out of the box for a little fly.
Set it as per some settings ive seen on here for my dx6.

And wow, its tough! I had a little trouble getting off the ground cleanly at first but then i managed it. I kind of managed a tail in hover. Went better than I hoped. I couldnt land the damn thing tough.

              Now back onto Phoenix... lol

Well done, my first flight was inside, boy was that a mistake, it certainly goes some for a little heli. I have since tried it outside and can (sort of) hover a little and go forward and back and side to side (all tail in ). It is different flying in 'real' life, you get the butt clenching and wobbly leg syndrome not found in Phoenix, enjoyable though.
