  • Gyro Settings

    Hi Guys

I have a GS-D9257 tail servo on my newly built 450 se v2

I have fitted a Tarot GY650 gyro but one of the setting i have to set on the gyro is servo type and i have no idea which one i should put?

    Here are my options

    1. 1520us analog servo at 60hz
    2. 1520us digital servo at 250hz
    3. 1520us digital servo at 280hz
    4. 1520us gigital servo at 333hz
    5. 760us narrow plus servo at 560hz

    The servo spec is.

    Dead band: 0.002ms (Default)
    Control System: +Pulse Width Control
    Working frequence: 1520μs / 80hz Digital mode/Analogy mode
(RX) Required Pulse: 3.0~5.0 Volt Peak to Peak Square Wave
    Operating Voltage: 4.8~6.0 Volts DC
    Operating Temperature Range: -10 to + 60 Degree C
Operating Speed (4.8V): 0.08 sec/60° degrees at no load
Operating Speed (6.0V): 0.07 sec/60° degrees at no load
    Stall Torque (4.8V): 3.8 kg.cm
    Stall Torque (6.0V): 4.2 kg.cm
    360° Modifiable: NO
    Motor Type: Coreless Motor
    Potentiometer Drive: Indirect Drive
    Driver Type: FET
    Bearing Type: Dual Ball Bearings
    Gear Type: Plastic gear
    Programmable: YES
    Connector Wire Length: 18.0
    Dimensions: 36x15.3x21.8 mm
    Weight: 25 g

I also notice when i have my heli on table and gyro set in HH mode and i move the rudder stick it does not always return to the same position centre, if i put the gyro in rate mode however it returns to the same spot everytime.
    Is this correct?

    Many thanks
    Martin.

    Hi Martin use option 1,

Yes if you are in heading hold that is correct, think of it more like you are giving the gyro a heading to fly by moving your stick it will then do its best to find and hold that heading hence not returning to the middle if you swing the tail on the heli to the heading the tail will then centre

      I see, That makes sense.

The other thing i noticed is that if i rotate the heli on the table in HH mode so far that it actually go past the servo end stop the heading will also change!

I assume this is prob correct (obviously this would not happen in normal flight).

If you move it along way it will become "confused" and wont always go back to exactly where you left it, But exactly that it wont happen in flight unless you plan on flying in a tornado. but it sounds like you have the gyro setup correctly if you are learning just leave it in heading hold mode, you wont need to come out of that for some time if ever :-)

Hi there I'm pretty sure your settings/specs are wrong for your servo. Email Got-Tek just to make sure but mine fitted to my 450 Pro is LED 4 which gives you 1520/333. Make sure before connecting, they got back to me in a day or so

            Yep thats what i thought.

Ok so thats cleared that up, There are a couple more setting that im not sure i understand.

Right and Left brake: I assume this is the speed at which the gyro would stop the heli after rudder input?

I also have a Yaw Rate setting? Default is set to 900/s ( i have no idea what that means, other values for this setting are 360/s 540/s 720/s 1080/s)

A Stick Exp setting? default is set at -20 ( other values for this are -10 -30 -40 -50)

And a Sensor Response Setting? Values for this range from 1-5 default being 3?

            Any Ideas?

Sorry for all the newbie questions.

Thats just the spec i found online as i bought mine of ebay and it came with no info. Are you using the same servo and gyro?

Yes this is to help with the deceleration after you stop rudder input, so if you want a hard fast stop then a high break a slow stop a low setting

This is the maximum rotation rate available, this is also dictated by the mechanical limit tail authority etc. 900/s is 900degrees/sec Max

I would leave this as is and fly it first.

This is effectively heading lock gain, a high setting will make the control loop fast a low setting will make it slow making it how locked in it feels in flight.
