hi new to the site have recently got into helis. i have mastered the 120sr and moved onto a hk 450 but would prefer to get something bigger. been advised to get a raptor 30 or 50 but would also look at other similarly sized helicopters. in the proccess of joining a club.

Welcome, if u master a 450 heli then u will be able to fly any sized heli out there, but if you go from a bigger 30-50 sized heli it can be very hard to fly a 450 heli because of how responsive they are, i learnt on a 450 first then went to a bigger 50 with no problem. hope this helis also spares for a 450 heli are mostly cheaper than a 30-50 sized heli spares!!

        Welcome to the forum curran

Yep, getting a Raptor is no bad move. Or how about a Trex 500.

Also, don't know if you've got a sim or not, but if not Phoenix is well worth getting.

        Anyway enjoy m8

Welcome to the site. Difficult to give advice on a bigger heli as it depends on what you want to do. There's a lot to learn on the HK450, nose in, inverted, 3D. Plus keeping it going and sorting it when it goes wrong. If you are finding a 450 too difficult, then a bigger heli will make it easier. You will probably crash less but it will cost more. At the moment the bigger electrics are expensive on batteries and don't fly as long as an electric. Personally I like 450s. The cheaper clones can have reliability issues. If you crash often, then this isn't an issue. The harder you try, the more you will crash, but the quicker you will learn. Improving isn't compulsory though. Just being able to fly a heli is enough for some, and more than many can manage.

Main reason a Raptor 30 is a good choice is that you can fly it in stronger winds and you'll get 15+ minutes per tank, at the beginning stick time is what pays off and you will struggle to get that amount of time if you go electric.

Once you are happy with your progress you can extend it to a 50 if you want or just sell it on and buy something new.

Sort out the club first though as you need somewhere suitable to fly a 30/50 and you may also find other club members have suitable models they are looking to sell on.

Personally I'd still suggest the 30 rather than the 50 just on flight time, but if you are looking for a 50 you might want to consider this as an option:

                        http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/sale/6...ombo-bnib.html

You'll need to add radio gear but that is a great offer compared to the original price if you want something new.

If you are looking for 2nd hand then you'll have no problems finding something I'm sure.
