  • DX6i Trim Switch Knackered

I have noticed that one of my trim switches is only working in one direction. It will work in the other direction with a lot of swearing and threatening behaviour but it is a bit of a pain.
I am assuming it is possible to replace just the switch?
If so does anyone happen to have a broken DX6i that i could rob a switch from, Going rate paid of course.
Failing that can someone tell me where i can source one?
    Thanks
    Tony

Had this on a couple of my trims as well. Its an easy fix. Its only the little rocker that weakens on one side. I Just popped it out, cut a small brass L shaped bracket and ca'd in place so as to reinforce the weak spot. Never had any trouble with them since
If you don't fancy doing that, just phone HH and I'm sure they'll pop a new rocker in the post for you. Its a 5 min job.

Does this fit the DX7 as well. I've got some spare trims for the DX6i. It is an easy change on the DX6i, mine were done by HH years ago and haven't gone wrong since. I'd order some for HH. If you are stuck send me an SAE.

This is the biggest problem I have had with my DX6i. I currently have two broken tabs on mine and have already got through a complete set prior to this. I have always just phoned horizon and they have sent new ones in the post FOC. Its a simple process to fit new ones so its not really worth sending the radio back to HH.

hmmm Must ring them and get some more sent out lol

You're supposed to use the sticks to fly with, not the trims. Mine went when I was learning on the CX2. Needed heavy use of rudder trim every flight. Since I got the DX7 I haven't had problems with the DX6i trims. There again I don't use the trims that much since I got a decent gyro. Well I used to think it was a decent gyro, now it doesn't seem to hold so well with lots of collective. Not so long ago I was really happy hovering....Actually I did use the DX6i for the 450 for quite a while because I wasn't too confident about changing over. Minor changes make a big difference when you can only just manage to avoid crashing. The replacement DX6i hasn't had a trim problem. They must have changed something. Wish they'd admit it there had been a problem that's now cured, people would know what to do. It can be a real pain if you use the trim to correct something in flight, overdo it and then find you're stuck with no way of changing the trim.

Thanks guys. I just rang Horizon Hobbies and no quibbles, gimme your address and one will be in the post today, Now thats what i call customer service. Obviously a common problem with the DX6i then.

I had one of the first DX6i's and two of my trim activators broke, so I contacted HH and they sent me revised ones FOC. The later ones had fillets added to the sharp inside corners to help reinforce the arms. I have a repaired the originals using a 90 degree section cut from a tile spacer (which just happen to be the same thickness) araldited into the insides as reinforcements.
