  • Non Liquid loctite

I've seen this in Halfords. It seems you rub it on the bolt so it can't spread to a bearing. Has anybody used it on small (2mm ) bolts?

I have some, I would't say it stops it spreading to the bearing it's pretty goopy for small bolts but it is handy to keep in a tool box and not have it leak out or gum up the nozzle.

Works fine on any size, I prefer the liquid stuff as I am just used to it I guess.

I can see it being a good idea for field repairs as there is always the worry of a bottle leaking or bursting...

Be nice if they did the green stuff in it, but I suppose that's supposed to be super-thin.

Just putting a main shaft bearing back in its home earlier, thought I'd use some 603, and the stuff leapt into the bearing shield! It just wants to be all over everything.

You only need a very tiny bit to retain bearings, loctite do make a bearing retainer for various fits, the stuff I have is yellow and is slightly thicker than normal loctite thread locker. Just use a toothpick and apply a few dabs around the bearing block .

I swear that's what I did! Tiniest amount, but when I put the bearing into the holder, a piddly amount squidged out and stretched itself thing over everything! Well maybe there was a small amount of ham-fistedness, always is Reminds me of what my chemistry teacher told me about liquid hydrogen, put it in a container and it just flies up the walls and wants to plaster itself flat over everything.

Yellow .. I ran into that looking up different loctites. That's medium strength loose fit or something.. hmm ah well, I've got this 603, better make use of it.

Ta, I'll give it another go.
