  • how do i do this?

    hi all,

just wondering hows the best way to attach your tail servo to the boom?

i have a 450 clone and they have those metal arms seemed ok but i have purchased a hi-tec 5084 and im stuck as how to put it on?.

the servo only has one hole each side but they are huge also the servo mounting arms on the boom have 3 holes but the middle hole seems to close to the boom ie servo touching the boom.

the servo does come with some clips to convert it to 2 hole lugs but that changes servo mounting by 45 degrees and the holes still wont match whats on the boom!

hope this all makes sense...... i know its a vital part to get right with the ball only 0.5-10mm away from arm hole for the gyro to work properly

do i persist with fiddling about with it or is there something better people use?

ps. do i use the rubber gromets supplied when i find a way of attaching it?

    many thanks

    steve

    Hi Steve,
What you want is a servo mount (like a plate with a hole to suit your 5084), then this bolts to your boom brackets.

        Hi Steve,
I've not used one myself, so maybe others can check the dimensions for you, but it's something like this
        H50038 Rudder Servo Mount

        Cheers

thanks marty i know what im looking at now,

also does the servo arm need to be at right angles? its a disc on the servo at mo and i've managed to get servo attached in a fashion and i've got the tail blades centered with the servo so when i move the servo to the max travel left and right theres no bind issue, plus the servo centers fine and the blades are central, but ball socket not quite at right angles to the servo arm hole, im still waiting on gyro to arrive gp750 but i thought i will try and get the servo all mounted in the meantime, will this cause an issue when the gyro arrives?

          regards

              Hi Steve,

You're on the right lines there mate, but your best bet is checking out Finless Bob's guides on the freak. register and then you can download his vids - top bloke
