Well as the title suggests after only the third flight I've binned it (almost). Total parts count is £100.
I bought the heli (30 size) last november or so but I've been putting off flying it. I flew it back in January for the first time and only pulled it out again on Thursday to try again. First flight was spent adjusting setup and balance until It was hovering nicely (I'm still a beginner). Then onto the 2nd flight. About 2 minutes into a nice steady hover the heli spun around towards me and my dad. I knew it wasn't an input I had put in and so hit the engine kill switch. Nothing happened. The heli slowly piroetted whilst coming towards us at quite a rate. We jumped out of the way and the heli hit the bushes behind us. This all happened in about 5-8 seconds.
My immediate reaction was the receiver crystal has fallen out! On inspection of the wreck this is what happened. I had it taped in place but obviously not very well!! I'll also learn to set up the failsafes as well. I have usually been a bit blase about failsafes but not anymore. I could have been injured or worse and all it would take to prevent it is a little time spent fiddling with the radio settings.
As I'm a bit cash strapped due to having built a new house I'm gonna hold off a month or 2 before fixing it up.
