  • Deans Connector

I am thinking 'Deans Connector' for the electrics on my 450S. Is this the correct way to go. Are there better options. Do the Deans' have a way lock themselves connected, so that they do not come apart during flight???

    Cheers

Definetly the best imo. Don't worry about them coming apart in flight, it's hard enough getting them apart on the ground!

Make sure you put the female on the lipo and there's virtually no way they can get shorted by mistake.

they have a sort of spring load on the male side that gets squashed as you push it in to the female. they wont come apart! i use them on my T-Rex 600e without problems.

with out doubt they are fantastic connectors i have used them for quite a while on all different planes etc you cannot short them out unless you really want to and there is no chance they will come loose in flight, as said before chuck the female one on the pack

Word of warning, I had a couple where the spring had flattened out and it kept interupting the power and resetting things, thought it was a wonky gyro for a while until we noticed the connectors were kinda loose. Still the best to use tho, and can take almost any current you can push thru them

Good Good they are great might put a set to the test at work and see at what current they start to fail could be interesting

Nothing to do with this thread exactly. Just reminded me of a job option I may just give a miss :-)

Make sure you get the proper Deans ones.
There are some cheaper copies out there.
Had one set that I had to use 2 pairs of pliars to get them apart

Binned them pretty quickly, and got the Deans, use them on all my packs now, superb, nothing better.

When you get round to installing them, there's a fantastic instruction video by 'Finless' Bob on how to solder Deans Connectors. I think all his videos are posted on Helifreak.com and you have to register to see them, but it's worth it.

Just get your iron nice and hot, tin each part (wire and connector) then add a little solder to the iron and make the joint.

I use genuine Deans on everything, packs, chargers, helis. Great connectors.

Just make sure when you solder up male Deans you solder the correct end. it has been known...

                            Cheers - Rob
