  • MSR or mCPx ?

    Hi Folks,
I have an mcx and CX3, and using Phoenix to learn on bigger helis, I seem to be getting on ok with the aforementioned helis, and so so with others on Phoenix, my question is this, should I now graduate to an MSR or go for the mCPx (with obligatory training gear for me). I don't have (can't afford) any intention getting a larger heli at the moment but would like to progress further. I don't want to purchase an MSR if it doesn't benefit me much. Your thoughts and comments are most welcome.

    MCPX, mate.

They're good. Better than the mSR. They should see you through a (reasonably) long way.

      Hi Charlie
No contest, MCPX is a must, and can be flown outside in very high winds that your others can't cope with

Had and have actually still have an mSR. Its been gathering dust for so long now its starting to fossilise) But had a go on a m8's mcpx today, and I have to say, their light years apart, its a little Belter in comparison to the now rather outdated mSR.
Could do with a bit more power when flipping and so on. But for learning all other aspects of cp flight, its excellent I reckon

          Sorry Guy

Would anyone else recommend the training gear for the mCPx? In my opinion it is not required and would most likely be more of a hindrance. If you are flying the mCPx over a carpet then there is not much that is going to happen to it and training gear would just get in the way.

True. You DON'T need a training gear for the mcpX mate. That is the point. It will teach you (you will get accustomed) to use the cyclics in a much more profound manner as it is a FBL model. It will teach you to anticipate how your sticks should move whilst getting into a hover position from the floor.

Once you've mastered FFF on it and circuits, you could possibly do the tail mod which should give you a little bit more leverage to learn inverted transitions (flips, rolls etc...) and then as days pass into an inverted hover.

Always keep in mind, though, there is NO better tool than the Sim.

Also remember, to fly an mcpX, as a beginner, you need room. The bigger the better. It wouldn't make much sense (other than for hovering) to put yourself in a small confined room and then say the model is NOT how you expected to fly. There should be ample space for it to actually stretch it's wings.

                Cheers,
                Jason

Get mcpx, msr will teach you bad habits in long run. I still have one (msr) to fly around my toilet though.

                              Yeah mCP X

Much better investment. You will get bored of the mSR quickly....

Oddly enough though, the mCP X really shines outside with a bit of space. It'll handle wind without trouble too, a surprising amount!

Get it and have fun! Just get used to throttle hold, and fly over grass where possible.
