  • Wheres all my confidence gone!!

I started off so well a few months ago, Confidence building every time i took any of my heli's up .

But recently after crashing my King 3, Then my HK450Pro the next night, I then tonight stuffed the King again (2nd flight since rebuilding it) 25 foot up into a tree after loosing orientation .(on the plus side the only damage was a feathering shaft and spur gear)
I seem to have gone back to the nervous shakes again from when i first started flying

But on the flip side im more confident than ever with my planks and my Gootch 450Pro got 2 whole packs of hovering in tonight with no worries at all! I dont get it

You do not crash...you land with enthusiasm!
I'm nervous even before I get any of my helis in the air...but I have not flown in six months. Hang in there it will come back to you. This hobby isnt easy. You will get there m8.
Gone out of my mind...back in 10mins

I should not let my mind wander...it is too small and fragile to be let out by itself

I feel your pain mate. Recently been through the same. I binned my 450 on it's maiden after unknowingly knocking it into idle up. Cos it went completely out of control I was terrified of it for weeks. To the point I just froze solid as soon as it was off the ground.

As said, go back into your comfort zone mate. I just started again from scratch with RADD's. Now I've lost the 'deathgrip' and actually smile when she's above head height.

Keep at it mate. Go slow and enjoy

could it be the weathers been good and the ever so crucial sim-time has been lapsed?

20 mins a day on the sim was benificial to me back when i was learning the ropes.

Well Got a bit of confidence back tonight, Ran several packs through my new Gootch 450Pro (only lazy 8's and a few flips and rolls) but i have to say what a nice heli to fly Super stable in the air and didnt feel particularly nervous flying it at all, Maybe just because its that little bit bigger i could keep orientation better.

Well My confidence is returning finally,
Not had much chance to fly in the last couple weeks but my King 3 has hit the deck (and a tree) 1st battery the last 3 times i took it out (only £10 - £20 repairs each time), But last night i managed 4 packs through it between flying my plank around with a 6 - 7mph winds and it came home with no damage

Was shaking like a leaf on the 1st pack (mainly due to the fact the last 3 crashes were on my mind) but by the 4th pack all shakes were gone , Couple more flights like that and the 450 will have to come out to play again

Will be getting on the sim a bit more regularly from now on as well, Only using Clearview at the moment But i will be getting Pheonix and a Sim Stick when i get paid.

When i started flying my 1st Trex 450 i had a couple of crashes & it knocked my confidence way back. Funny though when i used to crash my Sabre FP it didn't affect my confidence & i think that was largely due to it being tougher than old boots. I then used to shake like mad when flying my 450 (most noticeably the knees shaking) but now i think i've cracked the confidence issue. I'd not flown for a month & flew yesterday & today & my flying for the 1st time hadn't suffered 1 bit which is a 1st for me. In time it does get better, you just have to be patient
Yes the big sigpic is coming back

I wouldn't say I have confidence issues, but when I try new things, and pull them off, I get shakey stick on the rudder lol

Been there, done that and was ready to give up last time I planted my SEV2 after only four flights from it's previous wallop. Two rebuilds at £20 + a pop at a time when I was so comfortable with tail in hovering, I was trying side on and gentle lazy eights to get a bit of excitement back. Feels like I'm back to square one again. Giving the mCPX a hammering helps though. But I'm seriously considering going back to wind up lacky band, quid a shot junk shop fliers. Ho Hum. Bring on the calmer weather.

Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !

mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.
                        Several planks, gathering dust.

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

Okay, since you went to all the bother, I'll sharpen the 450s blades and have another go. "SLINGBLADE !"
