I know what you mean, my mate told me to have a go with his old Hummingbird, talk about butt clenching and rear end puckering, I was a complete wreck just trying to hover it (which I didn't by the way), just skidding along on the training gear. Ah well, back to the sim

I was exactly the same until a couple months ago (bar the raptor bit lol, Blade SR for me and what a mistake that was), All i would do is take off, hover tail in, and maybe and i do mean maybe move around a little(still tail in),
But one day on the way to the field i just kept saying to myself tonight's the night and psyched myself up, And when i got to the field i literally did my pre flight checks spooled the heli up and just went for it, I still now think the thing that broke the hover horror was the fact i took the heli up to about 6 feet and literally only hovered for 5 seconds to make sure the trims were ok and went straight into forward flight, Once i had done a couple circuits (admittedly about 60 feet up lol) the confidence just came to me in bucket loads, Im now to the point where i can do fast figure 8's about 10 feet off the ground without staining my boxers , And its just gone leaps and bounds for me, Yeah im still only sport flying at the mo the odd flip, roll, loop, invert hover etc etc but im happy with that level at the moment while i smooth my flying out a little.
