  • Best non-electric 50

I'm currently flying a Trex 450se, just getting to grips with it really although I'm not flying 3d yet.

I'm looking at upgrading to a 50 size, mainly for stability and fed up with the short flying times from an electric.

    Any suggestions please?

Sceadu - best 50 size heli straight out of the box. Comes with blades and has been around for a long time so is well proven with no quality control issues.

      OH NO! Not Again..!!

I agree with The Manager, the Sceadu is a good heli out the box but the Raptor 50 Titan is also a nice heli and you can buy lots of bling upgrades in the future

Stay clear of the 600N and Knight 50, they are made of putty and cheese respectively even if I am thinking about buying one..!!

      Cheers

For once Ade, that's a quality angle on the Knight.

I was trying to be unbiased by not mentioning any helis and was thinking of there LHS as they all need supporting as well as the access to spares.

Best first heli is a Raptor 50, sorry everyone but it is - excellent parts support and anyone can help you out where ever you go. May not be as crisp as some or not have quite that power delivery but who needs then when starting out.

.... and you'll never have a problem seilling it on when you want to move.

                        I agree with the above.
It is best (not from a power or performance point of view) but for learning and progressing and it can be tuned and progressed in the way and style you like. I have heard people on the forum having problem with this being weak and that being breaking from a kit but from all the flyers I know personally they have never had these problems.

Plus the upgrades are the easiest to get hold of as well as there being plenty of S/H cheap upgrades

Just to put the cat among the pidgeons...
The 600n (not the pro) is a cheap kit to buy, it's very stable, handles well, spare parts are everywhere and are dirt cheap (for multiple parts in most bags).
To me, it seems like a pretty decent choice of starter heli, all things considered.

                          Cheers,
