  • Throttle curve.

Hi all, wonder if any1 can help i've been flying my raptor on and off for about a year now wish i had more time for the hobby but work and family come 1st. i was flying bog standard package deal, wooden blades, cheap tx etc...With this set up when i do a lazy fig 8 after a few passes by it would pick up speed when i weren't really increasing the throttle so i'd stop and start again. Well just of late i've fitted it with glass blades and now using a pcm9, a simple change in blades has made it flitey as hell! It picks up speed so much quicker and is more responsive but it's thrown me out of sink? An exsample left to right with tail to you, pass by left ready to come back right it would goes 10,15 feet up?? Now i've heard up'ing the throttle curve to bring the head speed up makes it more controlable?? I've not had the pcm long and am still getting to grips with it so don't really want to alter things i fly alone as there's no clubs nearby so everything is self taught...
Any advice is grateful..... Steve c
    Cheers Steve c...

I'd be good at flying if it weren't for the ground

I second that. For around £45, get yourself a RevLock 10. Best thing since the victoria secret catalogue, in my opinion.
I've got a perfect flying record - I've not left one up there yet!

I have fitted a governor, but have just noted in thr BMFA handbook , that for an A test, the only allowable "stabilisation " system was a gyro, and i guess that rules out the governor. I have to say that the governor makes a heck of a difference, and will use mine all the time, (not during my test of course)

I think they're referring to this auto-pilot type things, not a governor.

Sounds to me like your new blades have more transitional lift than you old ones, so as the heli moves forwards faster, you need less power to keep the same height as the blades create more lift, compensate by dropping a little throttle, but don't forget to put it back in through you turn or you will loose a lot of height quickly. Its one of the hardest things to get to grips with, as it is always different due to the wind.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                  And a DX8 too
