  • Can you explain the different Trex 450's?

    Hi,

I am in a similar dilema to all those doing the mini pred/t-rex450/other heli choice. For me there is no way I can afford the £600+ for a heli so I am trying to work out how I can start cheaper and upgrade as my skill/bank balance improves.

The Trex 450's seam to get very good views on this forum so I am very interested in one of these but I do not really understand the difference between all the different version, S, SE, XL, CDE, XYZ, PQR (OK I made the last two up!). Can anybody explain? I know the best one is going to be the SE V2 but I aint going to have the money for it.

My plan was to try and get the cheaper end 450 like an S, a DX6 radio and 401 gyro. Use the servos with the DX6 and maybe get a better one for the tail. My most advanced move on this is going to be a hover as I am a newbie with only a Esky R22 to my name. If the bug then hits I can upgrade as time goes by.

Sensible or not? £400 pounds odd I may just scrape to afford if I save from now till Christmas, £600 I am never going to have. £200 for a mini pred is right in my current budget but I realise the variability in performance of this heli so would prefer to go down the Trex route.

    Thanks

    Ed

PS I have Phoenix simulator that I am practising away on.

The mini-pred is a good helicopter to learn on, but really the transmitter and the lipo that come with it really let it down, and people are judging it with both those things in the equasion.

Out of the box its not set up, regardless of what it says on the box, also its a bit slow on the cyclic for aerobatics as it comes, it needs some adjustments really to make it aerobatic, but for learning on its fine being a bit docile.

If you already have a transmitter like the 7CHP ot the FF9 then you cant really argue with the price without being unreasonable.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

450S is the t-rex that would suit your budget, the others CDE, HDE, XL etc are older versions.

the 450s looks like a good heli. certainly better than the alternative you have suggested.

are you sure you cannot push up to a dx7? its full range unlike the 6 so when you push on up to a 50 size you wont need to upgrade your tx.

Thanks for the info. So am I right that the difference between the s and the SEV2 is that more plastic is used in the s? Any other differences? I am not bothered what it looks like or level of bling it just want it to be easy to fly and cheap to repair!
