  • d/r expo

sorry if this is another stupid question from me on the dx6i in the d/r expo setting what are the 2 numbers represent(change) if that makes sense
    i.e ailer 70% + 30%
    or ailer 70% = inh
i know it changes the aileron settings and i think the secound set of figures is the expo and softens it around mid stick(please correct me if i got this wrong) but what do the first set of figures alter

    Hi,

Expo softens or speeds up centre stick. With Spektrum and JR radios positive (+) expo slows down around the centre of stick travel. Negative does the opposite, it makes it faster.

Dual rates is kind of a maximum throw switch, I personally do not recommend that you use these on a helicopter. Say if you have the elevator dual rate switch set to 70% down, when this switch is flicked down you will only get 70% throw compared to the 100% when the switch is the other way.

You ate correct about expo, dual rates alters how far the servo is allowed to travel,

Edit: beaten by Laurence, plus his explanation is better

Sukhoi Su-26xp i want to get a lot less movement in the airlerons i have increased the expo but wandered whether to adjust the travel adjustment and if so should i do it in the d/r expo or travel adjustment section

Travel adjustment will slow down the overall rate of aileron rolls for instance. Expo shouldn't be used to do this, just for around centre stick feel. It doesn't hurt to use a mix of both .

d/r is as the name suggest dual rate, so you can flick between them in flight. Travel adjustment is kind of like permanent and more of a set-up choice, this I feel should be set to max just before binding then use D/R to customize how you want it to feel.

For the SU26 I have found it best to use DR and expo which I use for take off and landing and where I need more precise control. When I want full rates I use 100%DR with a bit of expo (for snap rolls etc).

Also a little tip. On the DX6i you can bind all dual rates to 1 switch - There is an option in the setup menu to select which DR switch you want to tie then to. I cant remember what the setting is as I have not got my TX in front of me but ill edit this post with the details when I get a minute.

                        EDIT

To set DR to one switch go to

                        Setup List \ D/R Combi
You can set the switch to your flight mode switch or to the ELEV, AIL & RUDD dual rate switches

Ah, that's interesting, earlier I had a couple of flights with mine, and wondered how quick it would turn in dr1, but had to flick all the Damn switches and crashed instead lol
