  • What hex tools for building Trex 450 Pro?

    Hi all,
can any of you tell me what size hex tools I need for building the 450pro? so i can go out and get them today after work?
also how many of each sizes? (i dont really want to buy 2 of everything if they wont be needed)
    thanks
    (the manual states 1.3, 1.5, 2, 2.5)
I dont know what the 1.3mm will be used for?

The 450 sport manual show 1.3mm as well but I have never used one yet, I think they are used on the arms above the swash. The main size to have two of are the 1.5mm as the feathering shaft uses that size & most of everything else.

Blade grips on the sport are 2.5mm. I bought a helivol kit with all the sizes and screw drivers and ball link pliers. The 1.5mm ones were total crap too soft and would round pretty easy. I replaced the 1.5mm with these at £3 each KDS Pro 1.5 mm Hex Driver 3001-4 and they have been great so far & ive done a lot of rebuiding with them. If I was buying them again i'd probably go for KDS Pro 7 PCS Hex / Screw Driver / Nut Driver Set 3001-1 at £20 and add a second 1.5mm. There are more expensive brands but I have never tried them.

thanks. this is what i have in my shopping basket at the mo. but i dont know if they are good brands:
Model Shop Leeds - Specialists in radio controlled models

i have seen those KDS before but i wasn't sure what they are like so thanks for mentioning them.
i guess i can do with cheap 2.5mm ones as the blades dont need tightening anyway.
i am just trying to steer away from buying those tool sets for around £30 when i wont use all of them (i have the pitch measuring thing already)

Never tried that brand before, the only thing is they have a ball end rather than a square end. A lot of the align screws are shallow so there would be more chance of rounding a screw in my opinion.

Honestly the Align hex driver kit contains all the tools you need and isn't much at all, two of each and very good quality @ 14 quid.

This one here: HZ024 Hexagon screw driver(4pcs)

Never stripped a bolt with them yet, I did snap one as I was being silly trying to move something with them but installed a longer replacement one with no probs.

The 1.3 is used for the long grub screws that eventually secure the canopy posts. You will be kicking yourself if you dont get that. The only one you need two of is the 1.5mm for the feathering shaft.

mine does not look like 1.3mm
is there a chance mine might be .9mm? for the grub screw for the metal canopy mount?
