  • Flybarless?

    It's Sunday
It's Raining, so i have nothing better to do than ask questions.....

Why (does it seem to me) that everyone is jumping on the flybarless bandwagon?
    What makes it it better?
Is it easy to set up?
    Is it worth investing in?

I know nothing about FBL systems!

I am bored too, lol. FBL makes the heli track a lot better in the air. For example with a flybar if you do a huge loop you would have to make corrections during the loop so that the heli stayed on the same axis (imagine an invisible line or smoke trail behind the heli). With FBL the system makes these minute corrections and really helps keep it on the same plane (no, not plank lol). You also free up a little more power due to not dragging a flybar through the air. They are also much easier to setup mechanically (some system set ups are confusing however). What I have found though is that the FBL heli can feel a little disconnected from the pilot, almost like there is a slight delay (which there is, no matter how small you can feel it on some systems). I love my flybar 450 Pro but I would like an FBL one as well for the BIG moves (hurricanes, mobius, funnels etc).

It is the future though, they are getting better and better.

Yes, governors on the nitro's are a must. I used to fly my 700 and 600 without one but as soon as I tried one I could instantly feel the benefit. Made doing tick tocks so much easier back when I was learning!

FBL is the way forward. Easy to set up (Vbar)

          More efficient

          More power

          A lot more stable

Not sure on the "disconnected from pilot" or "delay" comment from Dan No delay on mine and I feel as connected as I can to it I spose???

damn .. the extra £10 would have seen me with a GY701 complete instead of the 611!

Such is hind sight.... I "read" that a guv'nor wasn't much benefit to the beginner. I think i need to sit back and read more lol

....might have to find a club now to make the most of this hobby. The self-learning curve is a bit steep.

The governor is not necesary while you learn to hover but does no harm really, but it worth having once you fly fast-forward stuff.

I'm giong to say that you shouldlearn to fly all the basic manoevres with a flybar, making the corrections that are necessary - then on a FBL you wil be a better pilot.

With FBL the heli feels much more like it does on the sim - I reckon those with lots of sim time love flybarless more than those who learned it all for real and have lots of real stick time.

Disconected feel? - there must be some bad FBL systems out there I guess.
