Hi

I'm getting pretty confused now

Have Blade 120SR and can fly outdoors in some wind (in excess of recommended 3-5mph) and do circuits, piro's, and still experimenting tbh, am far from mastery, but still thirsty for this hobby, and can survive a couple of batteries without crash.
So trying to figure my next move: Bear with me I want to explain what I think
Would ideally like dx6i and phoenix, but see no bundles (to save me a tenner)?

But I do see dx5e with Phoenix from £133.00. How is the dx5e? And will this radio (or dx6i) improve my control of 120sr?

I would like to eventually go to CP, but only after a run on the sim.

I am also interested in Align T-rex 250 for this, but can dx5e or dx6i bind with this brand? And I see combo deals etc, but they make me think I still need transmitter, gyro, recievers etc into the bargain? Which is probably too much for me to take in at minute (and my budget), so I would prefer RTF (what I' like is a nice cp heli (equiv t-rex 250 or blade 400/dx6i/phoenix.)

I like the blade 400, but would blade 450 be a better idea (newer model)? I'm nowhere ready to 3d, but as you know its an expensive hobby, so I kind of want to plan for future without being too indulgent; had previously thought on mcpx, but now i think its too small and will be a waste as I will obviously want to move up from that eventually. I know my missus might bat an eyebrow if I'm sitting here with a 250 t-rex and dx6i, so I need to know what Im doing in my head in one hand, and ummm having those weekend away tickets for two in the other

Hi Phil, hasn't took you long to be looking at something bigger lol, the dx5 isn't programable so not the best idea for a Cp heli, it will fly one but is very limited.
Best advice if you're on a budget the dx6i is the best idea. My advice on your next heli is don't go for a 250 size, they are difficult to fly (very twitchy), go for at least a 450 size if not bigger. Trouble is you're then looking at more serious money, together with more expensive repair costs.
If you are going bigger I would advise you to join a club, you'll get really good support and probably learn a lot faster.
Have a look at Phoenixtech uk, they have a really good range of suitable ones and cost less than Align ones, and quite a few folks on here would say they are as good if not better.

ps there are no rtf helis that are as good, the nearest will be the Blade 400/450, the 400 has its faults ( gyro not brilliant) and the 450 is new so no knowledge on it.
There are lots of rtf's out there, but most are cr4p!

i got a cx 250se kit from hobbydaddy for £30 also the rtf 250 is £100 +p&p they fly nice once they are setup they are twichy flyable if you keep at it they are like marmite love em or hate them

DX6i.....some sort of 450/500 heli....phoenix sim.

I wish that I had gone that way from the start instead of faffing about with micros and blade SR's.
250 size helis are very twitchy and not the ideal platform for learning....been there...done that!!!!!
Saying that I have recently bought an MCPx............doh!!!!!

Good to hear your enjoying the hobby Do yourself a favour and give the little 250 size helis a miss. Trust me they are nothing like your 120SR and are much harder to fly.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and if I had known what I know now, this is the route I would take.

First get a copy of the Phoenix simulator along with a DX6i. These two items will be the most valuable purchases you can make when moving on from the basics and will see you well into the hobby, even to the point where you start flying 3D and beyond. Don't muck about with the DX5e its just not up to the job for flying helis.

Secondly, spend plenty of time practising on the sim and getting to know your radio. Flying the sim is actually very rewarding as well as highly beneficial for when you go out with your actual heli.

Now it may seem counter intuitive, but the slightly larger 400/450 size helis are much easier to get to grips with. the 250 is a twitchy little bugger and doesn't like the wind much. So after having lots of sim time your best bet is get your hands on a Trex 450 or an equivalent clone.

Completely agree with the coments above, ster clear of the 250, DX6i + Blade 400 + Phoenix was my choice and have never looked back. If you shop around you can pick up a Blade with DX6i for around £260 new and there are often second hand copies of Phoenix on this forum or the BMFA site. With a fair wind you could get the lot for just over three hundred quid. The Blade spares are easily available and reasonably priced too (ask me how I know).

Blade 400. I think its discontinued now. Would there be issues with spares? I'll need plenty :P And maybe going up to 450 3D be better option? Going higher in price though is tougher for me to justify, I have the cash, I just need to be prudent about my choices.

cx 250se. I liked this heli seems to fly smooth on utube, as did its big bro the cx450. But again worried about parts etc (availibility in UK) and flyablility (twitchy 250s, as people say). Also since everyone says spectrum (dx6i mainly) I get worried when I see anything different. Imagine I could buy kit and dx6i/reciever seperate, but then I get lost again.

Would both these choppers be ok for my flying/doing circuits in my sitting room?

'Waded' in saying I could get dx6i/blade400/phoenix for about £300 is talking my language atm. For where Im at anyway in hobby.

Also had a look around PhoenixTech Darwil, the helis look really nice again, but Im guessing prices escalate (with all extras needed) as does time I need to build and atm time is a premium for me with having a young family.

You have all been helpful thusfar. And if theres anything more to come into the mix, then I'd be grateful to hear.

I think preferably the blade 400 or another 450 type electric heli is my best guess into what I should actually get!?!!!

together with their offer on dx6i c/w rx, ok it needs to be built but it is way better than any rtf heli you can get for that amount of cash; otherwise be patient and look out for something suitable on sale on here.

i don't know how big your sitting room is and i don't know the cx250 or 450 but there is a massive difference going from a blade 120 to collective pitch, i can fly my blade 120 around my living room but i wouldn't attempt to fly a trex 250 or my blade 400 in here.
