  • Honeybee FP blades dont seem to spin fast enough ?

    Hi All (AGAIN)

Just got a Esky Honeybee FP, the main blades dont seem to have enough speed to get it more than a few feet off the ground. I have 2 x 7.4v 800mAh 2-cell Lipo batteries both fully charged and its the same with both.Any ideas how i can get it faster do you think its the batteries or the main motor ??

I bought the heli off ebay (used not new) and dont know whether its been messed about with. Also when i throttle it up fully while holding down on a table looking at the heli side on the rotor blades dont stay horizontal the look like they are gyrating around without touching the controller. What causes this ??

    All help needed !

    Thanks in advance

    Gav

    Hi mate,

I'm assuming the motor isn't brushless? ie Nothing fancy looking or anodized?
I would say it's the motor. They tend to not last forever and the brushes are probably shot...Replace the motor and see what happens?

Not quite sure what you mean with the other question
    Cheers,

let me explain the 2nd question more. When i throttle up the blades move as if im rotating the right stick on the radio in a circluar motion, its only slight rotation. To describe it its like when a childs spinning top slows down and wobbles about before falling over. Hope this helps.

Ah okay I think I understand...
Probably normal and caused by the blade downwash & the flybar see-sawing through it. As long as no major vibrations are apparent evrything should be fine with a new motor.
        Cheers,

Gazza is probably right when he says you blades moving up and down is normal. It might be worth checking that the main shaft is straight because, if it isn't, this will also give exactly the symptoms that you describe. That said, if it is bent I would expect some major vibes when you spool up (I think Gazza was also suggesting this )

          How much do they deflect?

they only deflect about 5-10 mm its like in a circluar motion more like when you spin a coin on a table just before it lands flat. The main shaft is carbon fibre (i think) it looks straight the no wobble in the center so i guess it would not be bent. I think that it may be the flybar and paddles i have just measured the distance from the center to the tip of the paddes and there is about 4 mm difference in length. i was told that the paddles have to be horizontal and flybar level with the trailing edge of the paddle at the back when it rotates. I only get vibration when the main blades are not pulled out straight.
