  • Heli Cam?

Apologies if this is not in the correct section, I could not think where else it would be better to post!

I was hoping to get a little camera for my Raptor 50. Not wanting to spend a fortune and looking for something that can be robustly mounted. I see you can get mini camcorders for as little as £10 on "that" auction site but not sure if that would be anygood really.

Has anyone tried any particular one that was cheap but seemed to work well. Any photos of peoples setups would be appreciated!

I was not wanting to spend much more than £40 or £50 so i know I am not going to get HD TV quality images!

      Hi Topher

There seems to be 4 categories of cam

First - the 'keychain' cam - about a tenner - very small, very light and fair results

Second - FlyCam One and clones - about £50 - £80 - good quality results but a bit bigger, heavier and more expensive

Third - GoPro - fantastic results but at £275 up it should be - thsi is bordering on pro ger but the results are great

Fourth - Pro gear - spend thousand but with a nitro heli you wont get the full benefit - remote gimballing and direction are appearing at this level.

The best 'bang for buck' is the keychain camera! that awful auction website will find you one!!

Try youtube for examples shot with one - like this - YouTube - ‪720x480 Keychain video camera on RC helicopter‬‏

        Here's some footage of mine:

And if you look at the rear horizontal tail fin on this next video, you'll just spot the 808 onboard my 600 (with a Casio Exilim mounted on the front)

And finally, here is some footage from said camera, facing the head/swash...
