  • RX Battery help!

Please could someone recommend a RX pack and charger for use with my Futaba 6EX Shuttle setup. I will be buying a GY401 and S9254 with standard 3003 servos until I can afford to upgrade them. Is there any that I would be able to use the standard RX charger with? I have done a few searches and read up on quite a few posts on here but I am even more baffled!

    Thanks in advance

If you're operating on a budget then get a 2500 mAh (minimum) Sub-C NiCd pack.

This will take 10 hours at 250 mA to charge from completely flat. However, the charger that came with your Tx probably (and I'm guessing here) charges at about 60 mA, which means that a 2500 mAh pack is going to take (250x10)/60 = 42 hours to fully charge. That's a long charge!

Spend a few more quid (maybe £20) on a cheap'n'cheerful peak-detect charger, which will be a able to charge your 2500 mAh pack a lot faster, and will automatically cut-out when it's fully charged.

    Total spend = £15ish for a 2500 mAh Sub-C pack and £20 for a charger.

If you can spend a bit more on a bigger pack (say 3000 mAh or more) then do as it will last for a few more flights before it needs charging again.

DO NOT use the 600 mAh (or whatever it is) pack that came with your Tx at any cost.

Thanks, I can stretch to the 3000mAh and charger so will go for that. The TX came with a 700mAh which I intend to use in my plank at some point. Thanks for clarifying it for me, I was baffling myself with science!
