  • birthday coming up

hi gents, missus is pestering me for ideas for my birthday present, can anyone reccomend a garden friendly heli? got a budget up to £180
must be electric and user friendly, not too big as the garden is about 10mx30m, not too small or it'll struggle in a breeze.
    thanks,

Problem is that the only thing that will have any chance in a breeze is an mcpx on your budget, if you are a beginner you will struggle with it. An msr will fly ok outdoors in a slight breeze and is easier to fly, but nowhere as easy as a market coax. Best thing to do is see if you can find someone who lives close to you who is willing to let you have a go.

Most £180 'garden' heli's will struggle in a breeze. They are mere stepping stones to the heli flying bug.

yeah i know it's a bit of a problem area, i'm not a complete beginner but by no means an expert. i bought a 2nd hand pheonix sim with controller yesterday so that one is out, the 325 i'm still learning on and is too big, my micro blade is too small. it'd be nice to have something inbetween to practice in the garden with, just have to watch the weather. any chance of some pics? as the catalogue pics don't really give a clue to the size
          thanks muchly

The price you want to pay will not get you anything special new, but you might pick up something half decent second hand on here, but to handle wind you need size, even a 450 doesn't like much more than about 10 mph, and thats if you're ok flying it. My advice get yourself lessons with a pro with the heli you find too big, really buying another one smaller could be counter productive.
Remember that larger helis are more stable the only and real downside is that when you crash them they cost you more to fix.

carry on flying on pheonix, you will learn loads! if i was you i would save for a little bit longer and buy a .50 size helicopter, there very stable if set up properly, and are capable of doing so muchas you progress. If you got a trex 600 or TT raptor 50 you can get spare parts fairly cheap from most model shops.
