looking for help got a twin coaxil heli but want to move up to a fp heli any advice on which one for £100 or less

  • #2
Not sure on sub £100 for a collective pitch heli, partly because I don't think there is one assuming you need a ready to fly kit and also even if you can find one of a decent size after a few craves your budget will be blown.

My recommendation is a Blade mcpx at about £150 with radio or if your looking 2nd hand and want to fly outside then you could get a Blade SR for about £100 on eBay.

Personally with a budget in that area I'd be looking for a flight sim (Phoenix) and a 2nd hand transmitter. Still going to come in over £100 but nothing you can buy within that budget is going to do you as much long term good as Phoenix.

Personally I'd get a Blade msr, they will teach you a lot and whilst they are best indoors can be used outdoors as long as there is hardly any wind. The sim route is good, but unless you are really self disciplined you will find yourself playing on it instead of learning to fly properly.
The 120sr is good if you have enough room or access to a sports hall - if like me you have an average size living room it will be too big.
Welcome to the forum and the best hobby going.

Sorry, misread fixed pitch. In this case if it's indoor only, I'd go with the blade msr if you want some outdoor and indoor then the blade 120sr. Have to also agree with Mark_T that phoenix would be good if you intend to stick with it all. Just be aware it's not a cheep hobby so if you want to go for it with the bigger helis then go Phoenix and be prepared to pay lots of money out once you start flying the real things.

If you are looking to use these small indoor helis as a starting point and you plan to move on to things like a 450, 500,600 size then get a sim, as others have said you have got to be disciplined a little when your on it as it is easy to just play around, but if you use it to help your progress it will be a good investment.

The blade 120sr is good indoor if you have plenty of room to fly it, I would go with a blade msr as you will learn a lot from one of these and you don't need a very big room to fly one in.

If you are going to get yourself a 600 size heli then be ready to put your hand in your pocket to pay the repair bills.

Okay, mate you need to get yourself a SIM and a decent Tx first. An invaluable investment, if your serious in the hobby.

An mSR would be the apt 'next heli' for you. It's fixed pitch and it can be mostly flown indoors. It can help you immensely with your orientations practice. Now, even the mSR will fly very different when you bind it to a good radio, hence the earlier advice about investing in one.
