  • I've learned a lesson - I hope!

Having only started flying since christmas I have been pleased with myself with the small number of casualties I've had:
1pair of blades for the mcx2 because I broke the ball off one changing the swash pegs over.
1 pair of blades for the Evo 180se when I overcorrected on take off & hit a plant pot hard LOL.
Latest down to stupidity, got all excited with flying the Evo in the bottom field on our caravan site and overlooked that the last time I flew it was indoors on beginner mode on the tx, gust of wind came along and I didn't have the power to overcome it!
Landed tail first amd luckily only broke the tail rotor; could have easily been worse.
Now I know I must check everything always, when I get to fly bigger more advanced helis I will get bit in the a#*e if I don't.

Unfortunately there's usually a bit that you haven't checked that manages to go. It is quicker to check than rebuild though. There are just so many things to go wrong. OCD is the way to go as Andy said. Also use anybody you can find to help you, there's always more to learn.

Another lesson to learn, check the range of your TX!!!
Down the caravan site again with the msr this time-giving it beans LOL when all of a sudden it doesn't do what I want it to and nosedives from about 40ft into short grass.
It cost me a flybar and tail rotor, stupid rtf TX - must get a speky! mutter mutter winge winge! LOL searves me right.
Still the old flybar might just get recycled, thinking about playing about with a short flybar loaded with fishing weights - must try to remember the physics involved! LOL -been a long time since I did that sort of thing - anyone tried to go flybarless?
