  • CC BEC Pro programming/output question.

I am just about to purchase a CC BEC pro to pair with my existing stock 70 amp Align ESC for my mini vbar equipped Trex 550e. I'm trying to minimise cost here, and so avoid purchasing Link software and or the field programming hardware thing.

My question is, can I (and how do I) program BEC output voltage without the additional software/hardware i.e. just using my transmitter? Their user guide doesn't help. http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...user_guide.pdf

Is it possible, or do I need the software or hardware?

Secondly, what sort of voltage should I be selecting? I have three savox SC1258TGs and a SH1290MG for the tail ... all of which which apaprently operate at 4.8-6V.

I'm a complete newbie, so just basic hovering,/sports flying - can I leave it at what I believe is the factory set 5.1V output or do I need volts because of the mini vbar?

I presume that a higher voltage doesn't noticeably limit flight time since the power consumption of the electronnics is minimal compared to what the motor uses up?

    Thanks for the help.

yes you need to purchase the castle link to setup the voltage. 5.1 will be ok but the servos wont be as quick as if they were on 6v.

Thanks very much for the information.

In terms of BEC placement, can I fix it to/on top of the Align ESC, or do I need to keep that clear for cooling purposes? I guess I'm asking if it's the internal BEC which needs the heatsink and causes the ESC to heat up, or is it the speed controller part of it that heats up?

        Thx again.

Put it under the battery tray attached to the inside of the frame, will get sufficient cooling there through the hole in the canopy
