  • New to Heli's and greetings by the way :)

I have recently purchased a JR 50 and am in the process of building it. I know I am probably going to be told off for purchasing maybe a complex (non beginner lvl) heli, but before I get an ear bashing I am building it and learning in this respect. The reason I purchased it as I originally bought a small but pre-built heli, that was so badly put together I figured I would by something bigger I could make and also easier to see what I am doing if that makes sense!....Also I have purchased the phoenix sim and seem to be getting on okay with it along with a spektrum DX8.

I would really welcome any help and advice on my new journey into Heli's.

    Thanks

      Hi Xleeius,
Welcome to the forum. The advise I got when I joined was to put in a lot of hours on the sim, so you are well on the right track. I am a beginner like you so don't expect a lot from me. With the heli build project you've got going though tells me you might know a lot more than I do, but I do agree sometimes getting your hands dirty is the right way to learn. But do learn to fly virtually before you go to the field
      Regards,
      Dave

        Hello and welcome.

building a heli, is half this hobby so hope you enjoy it and take your time. Once complete, take it to a club and have it checked over, would be a travesty for you to have it fail for some oversight on the build.

Post a picture when done, and lets have a look

        cheers

          Welcome to the forum.

          I agree with Darren.
Get it checked out before you try to fly, and maybe let someone test fly and get it all trimmed out for you.

Thanks guys for your replies and welcomes so far. I will certainly post up a picture of it when I have put it together.

At the moment I am living on phoenix sim so much I'm thinking of buying shares hehe... And your all right, I think half the fun is the building part and setting it up, and hopefully it will last long enough before i am repairing it again!. I joined eagle heli club and have had some great advice from them and support there also, so I really cant wait till I can start cutting the grass! Ill post up later what servos and other bits I have for it and would love to note your thoughts.

              Thanks again.
