  • Transmitter question

I've been looking around at transmitters that i can use with Phoenix model flight simulator, and I found out that it comes in two different modes, mode one and mode two. And so i decided to look up on the difference, and.... this where I'm completely stuck because i don't know which mode will feel comfortable for me, and i don't really want to fork out money on buying two transmitters.

    Mode 2 is more popular.

Throttle + rudder on the left, cyclic on the right.

      Mode two m8
Its by far the most popular and just feels more natural.
Having said that, if you have never flown a heli before it probably wouldn't matter which mode you started with. But once you have gone that route your stuck with it.

I agree with mode 2, but not with Spectrum, I'd say go Futaba, T8FG, the best TX for the money. Bind and forget no brown outs Switches where you can get to them and 14 channels if you ever need that many.

14 channels Jees, he only wants to use it with Phoenix and fly a beginners heli. Not pilot the space shuttle
A DX6i or DX7 will do both jobs perfectly

Have you ever driven an rc car? If so, I would say mode 2 would feel more comfortable, as throttle is nearly always on the left, otherwise, see if there is anybody local to you, and try a mode 1 it 2 if possible

Agree with mode 2, very few people use mode 1 these days and if you start off on mode 1 and later switch over to mode 2 you'll be in for a rough ride

                      Mode 1.

Which side is the throttle on a car.

Which side is the throttle on a motorbike.

Once you have answered those questions tell me why you want to fly throttle on the left.

Seriously though it doesnt matter a fig which mode you fly so long as you are comfy with it..... Period.

Cos it reflects the natural control layout of a full sized heli.

Cyclics on the right, collective and throttle on the left

But as you say. Its what you feel comfortable with.

There is another but though.......The only thing wrong with this theory is, how do you know what you feel comfortable with until you've learnt to fly? and by then your stuck with whatever mode you learnt in

Does that mean we should be using a flying chair so that we have pedals to control the rudder
