    Welcome.

I am about 6 weeks in. I have bought a Blade CX3 which is a co-axial. I tried to fly it outside, which was a mistake. It landed on the roof and I had to get it down by climbing on some ladders. It is very Fragile and already I have spent close to £20 on ordering the parts that I have broken on it. The CX3 is now in pieces and I am replacing another part on it. Taking it apart I saw as a good learning curve. I also bought a Thunder Tiger Screwdriver set (£20) to helps me along.

I have been to the local flying club, I dont have anything serious to fly there, so I went to spectate.

I also fly alot on Phoenix, which I find very addictive.

I cant wait to fix my CX3 up and take it outside. Hopefully I wont crash it this time.

I have a boxed up Blade 400, which I dont have the bottle to fly it yet. maybe another 2-3 weeks.

Lots of fun to be had!

Oh dear!! give it a go, whats the worst that could happen? (says me knowing the answer to that particular question)

I would try the training gear as well and keep the hovering low to the ground in a wide open space.

The problem with the Twister V2 is it's got a motorised tail and therefore pretty inconsistent to fly. Your biggest issue will be the fact the tail can swap round on you putting you in unfamiliar orientations - making learning really difficult.

I started with a TWISTER CP V2 and after a few days of trying I gave up with it, joined a club, bought Phoenix flight sim and a cheap second hand 35Mhz transmitter to use with the sim. Within a week or so I was flying a 50 sized nitro . Never used training balls and just got on and learned... on the sim and for real. That was 2007, nowadays there are loads of great relatively cheap electric helis that are far more stable and reliable with much better tails.

I still have the Twister and occasionally fly it just to remind myself how hard it is to fly

If you really want to carry on trying with the twister, get a SIM Then you can develop you natural responses without costing you money in parts and frustration.

            Hi Jamie,

I'm a complete newbie too and I too have a Twister CP Gold, so I'm sharing your pain in a way!
I was fortunate enough to find another CP Gold owner very close by, who gave me a lot of help to get the thing set up yesterday,as well as donating some training gear and a couple of pairs of cheaper training blades (wooden as opposed to carbon fibre) as well.
While trying to bind the tx and rx, the heli randomly 'went off on one' and, despite having removed the blades, he copped for a slicing from the flight bar. Ouch! I watched and learned the easy way this time but I'm sure my turn will come!

Co-incidentally, Simon, my sensai-mentor-and-new-best-friend-in-one also had a Twister CP and, like many on here, now flies a T-Rex 450(?). Seems it's the model of choice for many.

I'd like to be brave and say they just aint got the skills to handle the Twister CP but chances are they've been there, done that, got the scars and moved on to something a bit less likely to kill itself and you in the process!

I've never had that happen to me however these things do happen!

I have to agree that there probably is no substitute for a good Heli and Phoenix tbh. Seems to be the tried and tested method around here with all you guys.

Do any of you know if the Trex Clones are any good?
