my first stop would be the local club. Unfortunately not all local shops are going to sell you whats best for you but what they can get away with selling.

defo go for a knight sport. any club guy worth his mustard should be able to set one up for you if not they shouldnt be setting up your model for you!

if there are no knights at the club now then there soon will be once they have flown yours!

There is a website buddy different brands
This describes making leads to join diffferent brands of transmitter. however the problem is it is possible to fry one or both of the transmitters if you don't get it right. this is not really of any use at all to beginners - bit its kind of interesting. Yuo ned someone to be willing to plug their tx to your home made lead and hope it doesn't fry it.

It should be possible to buddy a jr as slave to a dx7 I think should it not?

Just to confirm you can buddy a DX7 with a a JR and Vice versa. You either go JR/ Spektrum or Futaba.

The main point I was trying to make really is don't rush this initial part. Put as much stick time as you can in before you take a real heli up.

Totally agree with Moyesboy. Get to know your club (assuming there is one) and preferably make friends with one of the members who is willing to help you along the rather steep learning curve you are about to enter.

OK - Some research has shown that getting a DX7 at the moment is like finding rocking horse sh*t. As it is highly recommended, I will get one as soon as I can (with the Phoenix sim). So.....before I spend my money on beer, should I invest in the heli now?

                My options seem to be:

                1. Raptor 50 Titan
                2. Knight 3D Pro
                3. T-Rex 600N Sport.

I can spend £250-£300 or so on the Heli.

The T-Rex appears to be the only one hard to aquire, as most places seem to be getting them in low numbers and sell pretty quickly. What I don't want is any quality issues, nor having to do too much 'engineering' to get things working.

its not a knight 3d pro its a knight 3d the knight pro is a different heli.

if your on a budget take a look at the knight sport its only 180ukp and flies almost as well as the knight 3d.

you might want to take a look at the 600n vs knight 3d poll for more info. I wouldnt bother with the raptor titan it takes some real upgrades to get it to perform so in the long term is going to cost you more than the rest.

OK - Thanks for that - I can afford the Knight Pro (or indeed the 3D), unless the Sport is a better investment?

It's easy to be influenced by looks. Helicopters are a bit like women in that respect... they might look good, but don't perform. Don't just go for the 'best looking' heli.

Listen to Ade... and check out his video from the Phoenix website of him flying the Knight... awesome.

                        Cheers - Rob

I would be tempted to look at the Sport if you can buy one for £146.50. That is such a capable heli for the money.

What are you going to kit it out with? I.e. Engine, servos, gyro, etc
